The idea of diverting public funds to private schools has been around in Georgia for many years. Historically, Democrats oppose diverting public funds for private schools and Republicans have often been in favor. But that’s not necessarily true in Georgia, where school vouchers went down to defeat last year because rural Republican legislators joined their Democratic colleagues in opposing school vouchers.
A sixty-one-year-old Cherokee County, Alabama man was arrested last week after deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office served a warrant on County Road 75 in Cedar Bluff. County Road 75 is between Cedar Bluff and the Jamestown area. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana. Deputies arrested Albert Cagle, 61 of Cedar Bluff, on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, first degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Cagle was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on Wednesday of last week.
Farmers and livestock producers in Chattooga and surrounding counties who were affected by drought conditions in 2023, have until the end of this month to file for financial disaster assistance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a threat to the whitetail deer population in Georgia. While the disease has not been detected in any deer in Georgia, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division officials have already prepared a response plan for handling any future positive cases should the need arise.

They’d been at the same Christmas party in 2022, even taken photos together, before things went south and one of the two men died as a result. The other is now headed to prison. On Friday, Desmion Deaundre Diamond pleaded guilty to the shooting death of Demond Glynn at that party after an argument over a woman.

The Summerville City Council will be holding their first regular council meeting of the year this evening at Summerville City Hall. The meeting will get underway at 5 PM .
