A thirty-nine-year-old woman was arrested at the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office on December 29th after becoming irate with a deputy. According to a report from the sheriff’s office, the woman came to file a complaint about a dog she believed to have been stolen. While the deputy was speaking with the woman, Trion Police contacted the sheriff’s office and said that they had stopped the person who the complainant suspected had stolen her dog, and the dog was not in his possession. When the deputy told the woman that information and said that the dog had probably just ran off, she began to get irate and stepped toward the deputy in a threatening manner. Betty Jo Barfield was arrested and charged with obstruction of officers and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
