The Rome News Tribune reported on Wednesday that a Trion woman was arrested this week in Rome on drug charges. Police were investigating a shoplifting incident at the East Rome Walmart and Schedule IV drugs were found to be in the possession of thirty-eight-year-old Jessica Anne Gordet. Gordet was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Sunday on felony drug possession charges.
The GBI said that an autopsy will be performed on the body of John Wayne Siffles, who was shot and killed by law enforcement officers this week in Summerville. Late Tuesday, the GBI issued a press release on the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene says she was “swatted” on Christmas Day. That’s the term used for someone prank calling for emergency services at someone else’s address. Rep. Greene says it is “about the eighth time” she has been the victim of “swatting” with someone contacting the police under false pretenses, claiming a serious crime was being committed at her home in Rome.
