Georgia gas prices increased at the pump in the days leading up to Christmas 2023. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.01 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 5 cents more than a week ago, 22 cents more than a month ago, and 31 cents more than this time last year. It now costs an average of $45.15 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying almost $5.00 more to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.

A thirty-seven-year-old Alabama man reportedly told the Georgia State Patrol he “thought it would be fun” to lead law enforcement officers on a chase through Chattooga and Floyd Counties.

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader and Summerville Police Chief Harold Tucker released the following statement regarding an officer involved shooting in which a murder suspect was shot and killed by law enforcement officers on Christmas Eve on Highland Avenue in Summerville:

On Christmas Eve the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Johnson Cemetery Rd in the Chattoogaville area where a body had been found off of the roadway.  The initial investigation, which was conducted by Chattooga County Sheriff’s Investigators and Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agents, resulted in the deceased being identified as 50-year-old Sherrie Leigh Little of a Fourth Street address in Summerville.
