A Rome man has been charged with impersonating a police officer after performing several traffic stops last week in Floyd County. Police said that forty-nine-year-old Terry Jason Rogers turned on bumper lights making the victims think he was a police officer who was conducting a traffic stop. Law enforcement officers found Rogers and charged with impersonating a public officer and booked him into the Floyd County Jail.
A twenty-year-old Trion man was arrested on DUI charges last week after getting into a single-vehicle accident in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 3rd in Trion. According to a report released by the Georgia State Patrol, Bryce Andrew Cordell was traveling west on Welcome Hill Road in a 2015 Nissan Altima and was attempting to negotiate a curve when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Cordell told a responding trooper that a deer had ran into the path of his vehicle and he was attempted to avoid hitting the deer. Cordell was charged with underage possession of alcohol, failure to maintain a single lane and DUI for alcohol and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
Last week, Chattooga County Deputies were called to the scene of a fight at North Ridge Estates north of Trion. The report said that several people were involved in a fight and when deputies arrived two people were still in a verbal argument.
The Summerville City Council will hold their regular monthly meeting for the month of December coming up this evening at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall. The meeting will get underway at 5 PM and there will be a question and answer session with the mayor and city council at 4:30 PM. The public is welcome to attend. The Subligna Community is going to continue their Christmas Parade tradition in 2023. The community, located in the northeastern corner of Chattooga County, says that the Fourth Annual Christmas Parade will take place the Saturday before Christmas this year.

Late last week, Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp announced he has directed the Office of Planning and Budget to increase funding for the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council’s (CJCC) Victim’s Services grant using $13.2 million in remaining American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for FY 2024.
The City of Summerville will hold their monthly meeting for December coming up tomorrow evening at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall. The council will have the second reading of the year-end budget and will consider a bid proposal to mow the Summerville Cemetery. Also, the council will be looking to amend the city’s hotel-motel ordinance and will vote on approving the Destination Marketing Service Agreement. Also, the council will consider a request from a local retail business who are seeking an alcohol license. The Family Dollar store is looking to start selling beer and wine in their store in Summerville. Tomorrow’s meeting will be preceded by a question and answer time with the mayor and city council members and the public is invited to attend.
