A motel manager in Bartow County has been sentenced to 57 months in prison for trafficking a victim, concerning peonage, slavery, involuntary servitude, or forced labor, and ordered to pay $42,648 in restitution to seven individuals.
Santa is offering free photos this evening at 292 East Washington Street in Summerville. Normally, Santa has daytime picture opportunities, but this evening, you can bring your kids, or your pets, and have free pictures with Santa. Santa is collecting food for the local food pantry and new toys for children in need, so if you are able, drop off some canned food items or a new toy for a child in need and get a free photo with Santa. Some 1,411 Georgia farmers and agribusiness leaders from across the state met on Jekyll Island Dec. 3-5 for the 86th Annual Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) Convention. The 2023 Chattooga High School Football Banquet will be held on Wednesday of next week. The football banquet will be held at the high school cafeteria at 6 PM on December 13th. All those who plan to attend are being asked to bring a dessert for the banquet.
Over past winters, volunteers from across the Southeast and Gulf states provided more than 6,700 observations of monarch butterflies. This winter, the partnership of universities, agencies and other organizations called Monarchs Overwintering in Southeastern States is requesting the public’s continued involvement in reporting sightings.

Work is underway on an electric vehicle Community Charging Station in Summerville. Currently, the only other option for EV owners to use a public facility to charge their vehicles in Chattooga County is located at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park.
