A thirty-two-year-old Chattooga County woman was arrested after an altercation at a restaurant in Rome last Friday. Police in Floyd County say that thirty-two-year-old Alissa Michelle Blackmon is accused of getting into an argument with another woman at Applebees in Rome and breaking a drinking glass on the head of the other woman. The assault by Blackmon was said to have caused a laceration on the victim’s head. Blackmon was booked into the Floyd County Jail on a felony warrant and has been charged with aggravated assault.
An Elizabeth Street, Summerville woman reported the theft of a firearm and a neckless to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office on Friday of last week.
A twenty-one-year-old woman was charged with battery after an incident at Burger King in Summerville.
A twenty-seven-year-old Trion man has been arrested on charges related to a single-vehicle motorcycle accident that happened on Mountain View Road around 4:30 on Sunday afternoon.
For the second week in a row, no new COVID-19 cases were reported in Chattooga County, according to numbers released this week by the Georgia Department of Public Health. Health officials say to keep in mind that the numbers released do not take into account possible COVID-19 cases where people have tested positive with home-test kits and not reported to the local health department. In neighboring Floyd County, one person passed away from COVID-19 over the past week and there were twenty-five new cases reported. Statewide, 1,507 additional covid cases were confirmed, down slightly from 1,534 the previous week. Including the Floyd resident, 18 Georgians died from COVID-19 over the seven days ending midday Wednesday. That was down one from the previous report.
