Georgia gas prices are trending upward at the pump. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.06 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average is 27 cents more than a week ago, 14 cents more than a month ago, and 9 cents more than this time last year. It now costs an average of $45.90 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying $1.35 more to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.
The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) will host a Career Fair on December 7, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., in Floyd County at the Bob Richards Regional Youth Detention Center.
The Georgia State Patrol released a report about a DUI arrest that happened in Chattooga County on November 24th. According to the report, a state trooper clocked a vehicle doing 75 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 27. The trooper performed a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who said he didn’t have his driver’s license on his person. The driver told the trooper he was on his way to his mom’s house to get his license. The trooper noticed a strong smell of marijuana and asked the driver if he had been smoking. The driver said that he had about two hours prior and that he “didn’t smoke much”.
The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) intends to enter into a Public-Private Partnership (P3) contract with a Developer for the delivery of a publicly accessible Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) facility in Southeast Georgia intended to be used by commercial fleet vehicles. A Notice of Intent to Advertise (NOIA) was published on Friday, December 1, 2023. Georgia DOT intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) in Q1 Calendar Year 2024 for solicitation of proposals from interested developers seeking to partner in implementing the project.

The Georgia State Patrol says that alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on Mountain View Road on Sunday. A preliminary report was released on Monday that said the driver of the Yamaha MT10 motorcycle was traveling east on Mountain View Road and was swerving back forth recklessly while negotiating a curve. The driver of the motorcycle was failing to maintain his lane and ran into a ditch and struck a culvert. The motorcycle overturned numerous times and both the driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcycle then vaulted across a driveway and landed on private property. State Troopers say that the driver of the motorcycle admitted to drinking alcohol prior to the accident. Witnesses told State Troopers that they had seen the motorcycle “popping wheelies” in the parking lot of a nearby convenience store prior to the accident. The accident is still under investigation and charges against the driver are expected. No names were released in the preliminary report.

The group’s website is still www.georgiaaudubon.com – but when you log on – you see the new name of the organization and a link to click about the name change.
