Rome Police are investigating the tragic death of a fifteen-year-old who was killed when he fell off his bicycle while riding on the sidewalk on Shorter Avenue last Friday night around 10:30 PM. Rome Police Assistant Police Chief Debbie Burnett tole the Rome News Tribune, “It’s just a terrible tragedy”. Livano Alexander Ramirez Nolasco, originally from Guatemala, was living with his uncle in Rome and attending Rome City Schools. Police say it appears that the teen fell off of his bicycle and into the path of an oncoming SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

She grew up in Rockdale and Decatur counties in Georgia and came to Floyd County as a medical student. “I did all my clinical rotations here when I was a medical student, and I just fell in love with the place and the specialty.”
Chattooga County Schools will be presenting their Christmas Concert coming up this Thursday, December 7th at 7 PM. Chattooga Middle School Chorus, the Chattooga Jazz Band, Chattooga High School Chorus and the Chattooga High School Concert Band will all be performing. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. The Chattooga County Schools Christmas Concert will be held at Chattooga High School in the “cafetorium”.
State lawmakers have released a map of proposed new congressional maps after a federal court judge ruled the current one unconstitutional last month. The newly created map creates a new Black majority 6th congressional district in west Atlanta. The proposed district heavily impacts Democrat Lucy McBath, who represents the 7th congressional district. On Friday, state lawmakers in the House and Senate voted to approve the new maps. Now the maps will go before another vote in the opposite chamber. Democrats have criticized both the House and Senate maps as unfair and remaining discriminatory.
