Attorney General Chris Carr on Tuesday joined a bipartisan coalition of 33 attorneys general in filing suit against Meta in federal court alleging that the company knowingly designed and deployed harmful features on Instagram and other social media platforms that purposefully addict children and teens. A seventeen-year-old Chattooga County teen was arrested after a domestic altercation with his pregnant girlfriend. According to a report released this week by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Hayden Lee Snyder was taken into custody after refusing to identify himself to deputies. The victim in the case called law enforcement after an argument with Snyder in which she says he kicked her and slapped her. A deputy took the complainant to the Mountain View residence that the two were renting from a family member, to allow the victim to collect her belongings. When the victim and deputy approached the residence, Snyder at first refused entry and then once opening the door, immediately began to argue with the victim. Snyder was charged with criminal trespass and obstruction of law enforcement and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says that she will be sending numbers to the state authorities this week and that the county is about halfway through the tax digest and billing process. Normally by this time of the year, tax bills are already complete and in the hands of Chattooga County property owners, but this year has been anything but normal. With a huge spike in land values there were a record number of tax appeals to the Chattooga County Board of Assessors.
