Everything’s coming up candy and pumpkins in downtown Summerville on Saturday, October 28. Summerville Main Street will team up with the Summerville Trion Optimist Club to present the annual Pumpkin Palooza with Pumpkin Derby and the Halloween Candy Walk! This fall celebration will be held down the East Washington Streetscape to the Summerville Depot. Hours for the Pumpkin Palooza will run from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. In addition, there will be a steam engine train arrival by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum at 1:00 p.m.

Earlier this month, a black dump trailer was stolen from a First Avenue, Summerville address.  According to a report that was released yesterday by the Summerville Police Department, the trailer is believed to have been stolen sometime between October 13th and October 17th.  The owners of the trailer reported that the dump trailer was registered with the Chattooga County tax office as being homemade, and that the serial number may not be attached to the trailer.  The tag number on the trailer was TL917U7.  No possible suspects were listed in the report.

A Summerville Police officer made a traffic stop in the early morning hours of Sunday after a vehicle was seen driving erratically.  The officer informed the driver of the reason for the traffic stop and the driver informed the officer that he had no driver’s license.  After a voluntary consent to search, drugs were found inside the vehicle, along with a digital scale.  Both the driver and the passenger denied that the hydrocodone inside the vehicle was theirs.  Police arrested the driver, fifty-year-old Terry Scott of Armuchee and the passenger, forty-year-old Shirley Cooper of Menlo and charged them with illegal possession of narcotics.

An Armuchee man was arrested Sunday at his Turkey Mountain Road home on a felony aggravated assault charge.
