A forty-one-year-old man was arrested near a dumpster at a local thrift store shortly after 5 AM last Saturday morning. A Chattooga County sheriff’s deputy was on patrol when he noticed the man loitering near the dumpster. The man told the deputy that he was calling his dog and offered no other explanation for why he was outside the thrift store at that time. The man had a large knife in his possession. The deputy asked the man to lay the knife on the hood of the patrol car and patted the man down for anymore weapons. During the pat-down, the deputy described what is commonly known as a “pot-grinder” in the mans pockets, as well as a prescription pill. The subject told the deputy that he had “found” the pill on the ground and that he shouldn’t have picked it up. The deputy arrested Barry J. Warick on drug possession charges and booked him into the Chattooga County Jail. Chattooga Animal Control was called to pick up the man’s dogs.
A sixty-two-year-old woman, who was told not to come back to the Dollar General store in Menlo, was arrested and her car towed, after she came back inside the store. According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Bambi Bridges came to the Dollar Store to pay her Georgia Power Bill, but the employee on duty told Ms. Bridges that she needed a bar code from Georgia Power in order to process the payment. Bridges became irate with the employee and the employee called for law enforcement. A deputy told Ms. Bridges that she needed to leave the premises and was trespassed from the property. Bridges returned a short time later and was subsequently arrested for trespassing and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
Georgia Council for the Arts, a strategic arm of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, today announced the recipients of fiscal year 2024 Vibrant Communities and Cultural Facilities grant awards. The Vibrant Communities grant supports a variety of arts programming opportunities throughout the state, and the Cultural Facilities grant supports capital improvements to or construction of buildings to be used for arts programming.
Summerville Police were called to a Fourth Street rental house on Sunday regarding a theft. The owner of the house said that she had been renting the house to a subject who had since moved out. When the landlord came to inspect the property after the tenant moved out, the refrigerator was missing. The landlord said that she believe the former tenant took the Samsung refrigerator when she moved out of the rental property. The incident was turned over to an investigator with the Summerville Police Department.
