Paper Doll magnets and breast cancer prevention will again be the focus of Atrium Health Floyd’s Pink Day celebration this year on Friday, Oct. 20, National Mammography Day. The annual event focuses on the importance breast cancer education and getting an annual mammogram.

The Chattooga Chamber of Commerce is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive tomorrow from 2 PM-7 PM at the Chattooga County Chamber, located on Highway 48 in Summerville, across from Truist Bank. The Red Cross national blood supply has fallen by about 25% since early August. Right now, blood product distributions to hospitals are outpacing the number of blood donations coming in. The Red Cross is urging everyone who can to give the gift of life and give blood tomorrow. The Red Cross says it is a good idea to get a good night’s sleep the night before your donation, eat healthy foods and drink extra liquids.

On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, the Joint Tax Credit Review Panel, Co-Chaired by Senator Chuck Hufstetler (R – Rome) and Representative Shaw Blackmon (R – Bonaire), conducted its fourth meeting at Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia. The panel heard testimony from a range of industry experts who provided a comprehensive review of Georgia’s film tax credit.

The City of Menlo is inviting little ghosts and goblins out on Halloween to celebrate with a candy walk and costume contest. The event will take place in downtown Menlo at Lawrence Park from 5 PM – 7 PM. There will be several categories for the costume contest, including overall best, scariest, cutest, and most unique. The event is sponsored by the City of Menlo and everyone is welcome to attend.
