Young Farmers Plan July Meeting

State Inspects Water Slide At Lake Winnepesaukah

Inspectors from the Georgia Office of Safety Fire Commissioner inspected a waterslide at Lake Winnepesaukah after a five-year-old child fell around twenty feet from the ride on Tuesday of this week. Thursday Lake Winnepesaukah said the state re-inspected the Twist-N-Shout water ride in operation, including the rider tubes, the ride foundation, and signage and reopened it. Lake Winnepesaukah issued a statement saying, “On July 4, a child at our water park riding in a double tube sustained an injury. All safety guidelines were observed at the time an adult and the child entered the tube. The child was treated at the park and transported to Children’s Hospital”.

Tax Commissioner Announces August Tax Sale

Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton has announced a tax sale that will be held on the steps of the Chattooga County Courthouse the first Tuesday in August, which is August 1, 2023.  The tax commissioner said that there are 74 properties and 1 mobile home currently that are slated to be sold.

Trion Middle School Announces Dress Code Changes

Holes in jeans won’t be allowed at Trion Middle School.  That’s according to a letter that was sent out to parents that also details other changes to the school’s dress code policy.  Some of the other items included in the letter were that students will only be allowed to wear earrings – no other body jewelry will be allowed.  Also, students can only have dyed hair if it is a “natural color”.  You can see the specifics of the letter below:
