Missing Person Found Sunday Evening

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol and area fire departments, along with canine unit from Hays State Prison, searched for a missing person on Sunday evening.  Reports of the missing 60-70 year-old person came in around 5 PM  in the Silver Hill area.  The person was located a short time later and appeared to be okay, but was checked by EMS.  WZQZ will have more information as it becomes available.

Benefield Finster Art Collection On Display

Now through the beginning of August, Paradise Garden Foundation presents, “Heaven is Worth It All: Howard Finster Works from the William Benefield Collection.” Local businessman and art collector, William Benefield has generously loaned several of his early numbered Howard Finster paintings, painted wooden cutouts, and 3d works to display in the Paradise Garden Visitor Center and Museum. Also included in the exhibit is a selection of Mr. Benefield’s 75 Howard Finster “thought cards”.

Jr. Ranger Camp Registration Open At Sloppy Floyd

Jr. Ranger Camp registration is now open at Sloppy Floyd State Park in Summerville.  Campers will learn outdoor survival skills, the basics of fishing and creating various crafts. The Georgia Department of Human Services, with whom North Georgia Community Action Inc. contracts, has received additional funding for the energy assistance program for low-income households. If you have not already applied and have not received assistance in this program, you may be eligible. To apply or for more information, applicants must call the North Georgia Community Action Inc.
