Lowry’s 4L Rodeo returns to Chattooga County this evening. The event is presented by Harvey’s Southend Auto in Summerville. Tickets are$20 at the gate for adults and $10 for children age six to eleven. The rodeo takes place at the covered arena off Farmersville Road in the Gore Community. The rodeo starts at 8 PM this evening. Featured events will be bareback and saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing and of course bull riding.

The Rome News Tribune and Hometown Headlines reported on Thursday that more doctors are leaving Harbin Clinic and going to AdventHealth in what has been described as a “growing rift”due to the merger of Harbin Clinic with AtriumHealth Floyd.

A new partnership between Atrium Health Floyd and Georgia Highlands College will increase the number of nursing student positions at the college and grow the number of nurses entering the workforce in northwest Georgia.

Georgia DOT has announced temporary modifications to its Highway Emergency Response Operator (HERO) program’s active patrol schedule. By July 1, 2023, HERO will temporarily pause its active patrol efforts on metro Atlanta interstates during the overnight hours. HERO units will continue to actively patrol during daytime and evening hours when traffic volumes are the highest and when approximately 91 percent of incidents typically occur.

Thursday, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) announced 27 Georgia business recipients of the 2023 GLOBE Award. Managed by the Department’s International Trade team, this state-led awards program highlights Georgia companies that expanded sales to new international markets in the previous year. Effective June 1, the Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District will close two of its three remaining free COVID-19 test sites. The last day of operation for test sites in Catoosa County (CHI Memorial Hospital) and Paulding County (Wellstar Paulding Hospital) will be Wednesday, May 31. The test site at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds in Floyd County will remain open until further notice.

If the government can require safety belts in every vehicle to protect drivers, then it should also be able to require an AM receiver to ensure Americans can access emergency alerts. That is the idea behind legislation introduced Wednesday that would require carmakers to maintain AM broadcast radio in new vehicles at no additional charge. For car models that have already dropped the feature, until it can be brought back, the proposed AM for Every Vehicle Act would mandate a warning label alerting buyers what is missing be slapped on the window at the dealer showroom.

Chattooga County Probate Judge Gary Woods says that his office will be closed on Friday, May 19, 2023 for training. The probate office will reopen on Monday of next week.
