Nine People Plead Guilty in Gilmer County Murder Investigation

In April of 2021, associates of a drug trafficking organization (DTO) conspired to abduct Rossano Delgado of Barrow County, Georgia. The members of this DTO associated together for the common purposes of illegally committing acts of violence and obtaining money and property through the sale of drugs and illegal controlled substances. The DTO distributed controlled substances, such as methamphetamine, throughout Georgia.

2023 Miss Chattooga Winners

FCCLA and CTAE held the annual Miss Chattooga County pageant on Saturday May 6th, 2023. There was a total of 76 participants. The funds from the Miss Chattooga Pageant allow students to be able to compete at the local, state, and national level.  WZQZ’s Bonnie Fletcher was the emcee for the event.

Armuchee Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty

A fifty-two-year-old Armuchee woman was arrested this past week on felony cruelty to animal charges.  Floyd County Police say that Lisa Virginia Thompson allowed her dog to become severely disfigured due to a tumor.  Arrest reports indicated that the dog was in great pain because of the tumor and Thompson did nothing about it.  The incident was investigated earlier this month and Thompson was arrested on Thursday and charged with a felony.  She was being held in the Floyd County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

 

Second Fatal Wreck In Floyd County Saturday

A 50 year-old Rome man, Trevor Britt, was killed in a multi-vehicle accident near Coosa on Alabama Highway on Saturday afternoon. It was the second fatal accident on Saturday in Floyd County.
