National Day Of Prayer To Be Observed Today In Chattooga County

Today is the National Day of Prayer and this year’s theme is “Avail Much”.  The theme is taken from James 5:16 that says “Pray fervently and avail much” (King James Version).  Today from 7:30-7:45 AM student-led prayer will take place at Trion City Schools and Chattooga County Schools.  From Noon until 1 PM, people are invited to come and pray at the Chattooga County Courthouse steps.  Then, this evening at 6:30 PM, a National Day of Prayer Service will be held at the Trade Day grounds in Summerville.  If you plan to attend the National Day of Prayer service at Trade Day this evening, you will want to bring a camping chair.

Centre Police Office Arrested For Planting Evidence

A Centre, Alabama police officer was arrested after allegations that he planted evidence.  According to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship, the Centre Police Department arrested Michael Kilgore, who was employed as a Centre police officer, on Wednesday evening. Allegations were made regarding the unlawful handling and planting of evidence by Kilgore.

May Artist Market At Paradise Garden

Paradise Garden, home of the epic art and music festival Finster Fest, also presents a growing annual arts festival, May Artist Market, coming Saturday, May 6, 2023. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
At one of the prettiest times of the year at Howard Finster’s 4-acre folk art environment just outside the Northwest Georgia town of Summerville, this year’s May Artist Market offers work by 18 folk artists and craftspeople from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina. The festival also features a side dish of Americana music, and the Chattooga Garden Club will serve up pimento cheese sandwiches (famous from Finster Fest) and other delicious treats. The garden club will have plants for sale, too.

Complainant Says Someone Threw Brick & Broke Car Window

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call last week about a vehicle being damaged just north of Truck Town on Highway 27.  According to a report released this week, the complainant said that someone had thrown a brick and busted the window out of a vehicle.  The complainant told the responding deputy that there have been quite a few incidents of theft and property damage recently.  There were no surveillance cameras on the property and the complainant didn’t know who might have done the damage.
