Woman’s Vehicle Struck On Highway 27

A woman told a Chattooga County Sheriff’s deputy that her vehicle was truck by another while she was driving on Highway 27 last week near Truck Town.  The complainant told a responding deputy that she was in heavy traffic near Dot Johnson Drive at the time of the accident on April 19th.  The area gets congested due to school traffic going to Leroy Massey Elementary School.  The complainant said that someone in another vehicle struck her vehicle on the right-side passenger door.  The woman was not able to give a description of the vehicle that struck her.  The sheriff’s department filed a report for insurance for the complainant and was checking with Truck Town to see if they could obtain video surveillance of the accident.

Woman Arrested For Stealing Cosmetics & Meat

A fifty-five-year-old woman was arrested at Walmart last week after she attempted to steal cosmetics and meat.  According to a report released yesterday by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, loss prevention at Walmart called the sheriff’s department after Alicia Hudgins was seen putting the makeup and meat in her pocketbook.  Walmart employees stopped Hudgins after she attempted to exit the store without paying.  The total value of the items was $150.91.  Hudgins was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on charges of shoplifting.

Two Injured When Car Rolls Out Of Gas Station Parking Lot

On April 18th, Summerville Police responded to the Circle K on Commerce Street to speak with the driver of a vehicle that said his vehicle rolled out of the gas station parking lot, across the road and into the parking lot of the Fit Pit where several people were set up selling yard sale items.  Police say that by the time they arrived, two people had already been transported to the hospital.  The vehicle also damaged two other vehicles and yard sale merchandise.  The driver of the vehicle was identified in a police report as seventy-nine-year-old David Mott of Lyerly. Mott told police he failed to put his vehicle in park before going inside the store.  The two people struck by the vehicle were identified in the report as Lisa Tucker and Frankie Wade.  Their condition and injuries were not noted in the report that was released on Monday, April 24th.
