“We Care” Veterans Fair To Be Held Next Month

​United Military Care  is excited to host the 2023 We CARE Veterans Fair at the Rome Civic Center on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 8:30 AM until 4:00 pm.  There is no charge to attend or receive services and everyone is welcomed.  Take this opportunity to sign up for VA benefits, learn about and access state and local programs for Veterans, and meet a community that loves and respects you and your service.  If you have your DD214 or other military/veteran paperwork you are encouraged to bring it with you; however you can receive assistance without documentation. Burn Ban Coming Back Next Week

Starting next Monday, May 1, 2023, Chattooga County and surrounding county residents will be under a burn ban imposed by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.  The ban includes these counties in Northwest Georgia: Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Cobb, Dawson, Floyd, Forsyth, Gordon, Haralson, Lumpkin, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Walker.

May Concert At Center Post Community Center

Georgia gas prices declined at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.37 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight).

Venue Change For CHS Football Meeting

A meeting will be held on Wednesday of this week for the parents/guardians of rising 9th-12th graders who will be playing football for the Chattooga Indians in the 2023-2024 school year.  The original announcement said that the meeting would be held at the Chattooga High School Cafeteria, but due to conflicting schedules with the Chattooga Schools Chorus Spring Concert, the football meeting has been moved to the gymnasium, according to Chattooga School Supt. Jared Hosmer.  The spring concert will be taking place at the Chattooga High School Cafeteria.

Man’s Medicine Stolen While He Was In Jail

A fifty-year-old Summerville man told police that his medicine was stolen while he was in jail. Jamison Lee Armstrong told Summerville Police last Friday he got home after being incarcerated and discovered that his medication had been stolen from his Favor Street residence.  The incident was turned over to an investigator with the Summerville Police Department.

Body Found In Garage In Rome

On Monday afternoon Floyd 911 dispatch received a report that a body was discovered in the garage of West End Baptist Church in the area around Mississippi Drive.   When first responders arrived at the scene they were able to confirm that there was a body of a man inside the garage.  The Floyd County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene to determine the cause of death.

Second Baptist Church To Host Mother & Son Dance Saturday May 27th
