A Scoggins Street, Summerville resident reported a theft to the Summerville Police Department on Friday of last week. The complainant told a responding officer that someone had stolen his hand trucks from his property. The complainant said that the last time he had noticed his hand trucks was the previous weekend when he had seen them beside his trailer. The complainant said that the hand trucks were black with green paint splatters.
Georgia gas prices rose at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.37 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight).
A series of salad kits sold in grocery stores have been recalled due to listeria concerns, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA said the Fresh Express Incorporated salad kits were found to have listeria during a random sample test by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
The GBI is investigating three separate officer-involved shootings that happened over Easter weekend.
A fifty-seven-year-old man was arrested on trespassing charges on Saturday on Allen Street in Summerville. According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, an officer was dispatched to the residence after a caller said that Terry Albert Davis was at the property and was not supposed to be there. When the officer arrived and spoke with Mr. Davis, he admitted that he knew he was trespassing. Davis was arrested and booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
The Trion Fire Department responded to the second house fire in as many days on Monday afternoon. The fire started on the porch of a home on Henderson Drive in the Ridgeway Community and quickly spread to the inside of the mobile home.
