Here is the latest arrest report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office for Monday, April 10, 2023:

The Trion Fire Department responded to a house fire on Echols Drive at 11 AM on Easter morning. Trion firefighters found the house with heavy flames and smoke. All of the residents were outside of the house when the fire department arrived. The Trion Fire Department was assisted by firefighters from the Summerville Fire Department and Hays Correctional Fire Department. According to the Trion Fire Department, there were no working smoke detectors inside the home. No one was injured that lived at the residence, and no firefighters were injured while putting out the fire. The Trion Fire Department reminds area residents, if you don’t have working smoke alarms, please reach out to your local fire department for assistance.

The 14th Congressional District Republican Convention will be held at Trion City Schools later this month. The convention will draw visitors from across the Northwest Georgia area. The past two weekends, the nominating committee for the 14th District Republicans have been holding interviews for delegates who are interested in running for 14th District Office positions and state committee positions. The first meeting was held at the law office of David Guldenschuh in Rome and the second was held at the Whitfield County Republican Party. The 14th District Republican Convention will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Trion High School Gym, located at 919 Allgood Street in Trion.

A popular downtown Summerville restaurant is changing owners. Los Maguey Mexican Restaurant has been a staple in downtown for many years. The Mexican restaurant opened after the former Pop’s Buffet closed down in the former Super D Department Store location. According to the agenda for tonight’s Summerville City Council meeting, Los Maguey’s new owners have applied for an alcohol license. The restaurant’s new name will be Dos Maguey. The restaurant is located at 10020 Commerce Street in Summerville.

The Summerville City Council will be meeting this evening at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall. The council has a full agenda for tonight’s meeting that you can see below. The meeting will be preceded by a question and answer session with the Mayor and City Council at 4:30 PM. The public is invited to attend.

A fifty-nine-year-old Floyd County woman turned herself in at the Floyd County Jail late last week on a misdemeanor shoplifting conviction. The woman is now facing a felony charge because she was found with illegal opioids in her possession at the jail. Carolyn Denise Boyce was additionally charged with felony possession of a Schedule III substance and misdemeanor possession of any controlled substance by an inmate. She was being held on a $10,000 bond as of Friday morning.
