CHS Tribe Anglers Participate In Tournament

Chattooga Tribe Anglers Katie Hogue and Jaydon Jarrells weighed in 1 bass for 2.10 lbs for 6th place over the past weekend at the Mountain Valley Youth Anglers Tournament Trail tournament #2 on Lake Chickamauga. Anglers Jayden Aldridge and Coy Richardson and Kelsey and Conner Webb also participated in the tournament. It was tough fishing considering the changing weather over the past week but turned out to be a beautiful day fishing.  Congratulations to the Chattooga Tribe Anglers.

Three Women Arrested For Fighting

Three women were arrested over the weekend after police in Summerville responded to a call about a fight on “C” Street.  When officers arrived they found three women involved in a physical altercation.  Police say that alcohol was a factor in the arrests.  Those arrested were twenty-two-year-old Kelsey Hughes, thirty-five-year-old Heather Smith and thirty-two-year-old Summer Stephens.  All three were charged with disorderly conduct and booked into the Chattooga County Jail.

You Can Vote For Local Business To Get “Leap Grant” From TVFCU

Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union (TVFCU) is asking for the public to choose one People’s Choice Finalist in each regional Idea Leap Grant – the credit union’s annual program that awards funds to local entrepreneurs. The People’s Choice Finalist in each area will participate in one of the upcoming pitch competitions in which TVFCU is giving away $75,000 in the Chattanooga area and $50,000 each in the Northwest Georgia and Cleveland areas. The remaining finalists who will compete in each pitch night will be selected by volunteer panels of community judges in each area based on recent site visits.  A Chattooga County business has been nominated.  Dirt in downtown Summerville could use your vote.

Homeless Man Sentenced On Child Molestation Charges

A thirty-five-year-old homeless man was sentenced to prison on charges that he molested a child in Chattooga County in May of last year.  Joel King had pleaded guilty back in February of this year to the charges.

Sheriff’s Department Fundraiser For Nick Robinson

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a fundraiser for K-9 Deputy Nick Robinson today, but the BBQ is all sold-out.  The sheriff’s department says that they pre-sold all of the available BBQ plates, but they will have hamburgers and chips for sale today for $5 and all of the proceeds will go to Nick’s surgery and recovery efforts.  Remember, the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office is now located on Underwood Drive in Trion, near Hays State Prison.

A Covington distribution center turned an employee and their family’s joyous celebration of life and a chance to bond with their newborn into a nightmare by illegally terminating the worker for exercising their rights under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act, an investigation has found.
