Summerville Man Dies In Walker County Jail

A fifty-year-old Chattooga County man died in the Walker County Jail on Friday morning.  Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said that Christopher Jason Callahan of Summerville was transported to the hospital after an unspecified medical emergency.  Officers and emergency medical workers performed CPR and other life-saving measures at the jail. The inmate was transported to the hospital and pronounce dead this morning around 2 AM, according to Sheriff Wilson. The body has been taken to the GBI lab in Decatur for an autopsy.

Henagar Man Arrested In Connection With Shooting

On Thursday, March 23rd, at approximately 6:27 pm, a call came into Henagar Police Department, stating a female subject had been shot at 131 Kelly Drive in Henagar.  Henagar PD and the DeKalb County, Alabama Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located the female that had been shot.

Georgia Unemployment Holds Steady

On Thursday, Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson announced that Georgia’s February unemployment rate was 3.1 percent, unchanged from a revised 3.1 percent in January. The unemployment rate has held at 3.1 percent for seven consecutive months and was five-tenths lower than the national unemployment rate of 3.6 percent.
