Plans for a new luxury RV resort, DiVine Village, have been officially announced. Construction is slated to begin in early 2025 on a sprawling 110-acre site near Dahlonega.
Waterfowl hunters can head to their favorite hunting ground for the Georgia duck hunting season when it opens on Sat., Nov. 23, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD). Floyd County Police say that a Chattooga County man was arrested recently after he was involved in an accident and then robbed the people he crashed his car into. Police say that forty-six-year-old Tyrone LaFochia Morgan of Lyerly was arrested at the Jack’s Restaurant on Shorter Avenue in Rome after he crashed his car into another’s and then robbed them. Reports said that Morgan, while possessing an unspecified weapon, threatened to kill the victim, a 39 year-old man, before stealing their car keys. Morgan is charged with armed robbery, theft by taking, terroristic threats and acts along with criminal trespass.

North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (NGEMC) has issued a warning to its members regarding a new email scam that is making the rounds in the community. Reports indicate that an email address used by NGEMC to send e-bills has been spoofed, with scammers attempting to deceive recipients into disclosing their Apple ID passwords.
The Chattooga County Extension Office is hosting a meet and greet for the new Chattooga County 4-H Extension Agent, Amy Anderson. Anderson took over her new position on November 1st. She brings with her, 13 years of teaching experience as she steps into her new roll at the Chattooga County Extension Office.
Amy holds a Master’s degree in Secondary English from Kennesaw State University and has taught various subjects. She is skilled in engaging students through different educational methods. Amy has a track record of building successful programs and engaging students through initiatives like SkillsUSA and the National Honor Society. She is also involved in her church’s Youth Group and has experience as a cheer leading coach.
The meet and greet is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19th from 6-7:30 PM at the Chattooga County Ag Building. A spaghetti supper will be available for $5.
Gas prices in Georgia decreased at the pumps compared to a week ago. Georgians pay an average of $2.93 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 1 cent less than a week ago, 21 cents more than a month ago, and 6 cents more than this time last year. It costs drivers an average price of $43.95 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline.
Former President Jimmy Carter, who recently turned 100, has been nominated for a Grammy in the Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording category for his audiobook called “Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration. ” The audiobook captures his final Sunday School lessons at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. In an announcement about the Grammy nomination, music star LeAnn Rimes praised Carter for his legacy of kindness and dedication to humanity. This nomination is Carter’s 10th, after winning 3 Grammys in the past. Despite being in hospice care for over a year, Carter’s previous wins include Best Spoken Word Album for “Faith – A Journey For All,” “A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety,” and “Our Endangered Values: America’s Moral Crisis. ” If Carter wins this Grammy, he will become the oldest-ever winner, surpassing blues pianist Pinetop Perkins who won at age 97.
