Week 5 of the 2025 high school football season kicks off tonight here on WZQZ. For the first time this season, both the Trion Bulldogs and the Chattooga Indians will be playing at home tonight.
The Chattooga Indians are 0-3 on the season after a 44-7 loss at Mount Zion last week. The Indians will look to to notch their first win of the season tonight at the Little Big Horn against the Gordon Central Warriors. After going three seasons without a single victory, the Warriors rebounded last year with a 4-7 season and this year Gordon Central has almost equaled last year’s win total by starting the season 3-0 with victories over Southeast Whitfield, Butler and Josey. Tonight will be the region 7-A opening game for both schools.
The Trion Bulldogs are looking to build on the momentum of their impressive 28-21 road win over Model last week. The Bulldogs are 2-2 on the season with victories over Dade County and Model and losses against Gordon Lee and Temple. Tonight, the Dawgs will square off against the Lafayette Ramblers in Trion at Sam R. McCain Stadium. The Ramblers went 0-10 last year but are off to one of the better starts in recent history with a 2-1 record. The Ramblers shut out Chattooga 25-0 in Week 1, lost to Gordon Lee 24-7 in week 2 and defeated Dade County last week on the road in Trenton 17-7.
Both Trion and Chattoga games will be broadcast live on the WZQZ Facebook page and the Trion vs Lafayette game will also be broadcast live on 99.1 FM and AM 1180. Join WZQZ’s Jeremy Burke and Paul Cavin for the Trion game while Chris “Bubba” Wilson and Steiner Davis will be on the call for Chattooga. Kickoff is at 7:30 pm tonight.
