Friday night, the Trion Fire Department, along with the Hays Correctional Fire Department and Summerville Fire Department, responded to reports of a residential structure fire near Rose Circle in Trion with a car parked in the front yard. Firefighters reached the scene in a matter of minutes, verifying a structural fire with smoke and heavy fire coming from the back. Two dogs were rescued and their safety was guaranteed when firefighters quickly entered the building to look for possible entrapment. The fire was later put out, limiting it to the two rooms that were initially affected. There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is still being looked into.
The City of Summerville recently posted a job notice, looking for a new recreation director. Bo Chamlee, the director of the Summerville Recreation Center, is retiring on Monday, December 23rd, after 30 years of service. Chamlee started as Director of the Summerville Recreation Center in October of 1994. Chamlee has greatly influenced many young lives through his dedication to the community’s youth. Chamlee has noted changes over the years, including shifting dynamics with parents, partly due to social media making the job of recreation director more difficult. Chamlee’s retirement marks the end of a significant era, but his commitment to the community will inspire those who come next. Summerville is grateful for his contributions.
