Local Girl Scout Troop to host community meeting on Thursday September 17th at 5pm

The Chattooga County Girl Scout Troop 40119 will be having a community meeting on Thursday September 17th at 5pm at the Chattooga County Library.  This meeting is for any girl interested in the Girl Scouts and also for community members to come and see what the Girls Scouts are all about and how the Girl Scouts can help the community and how the community can help your Girl Scouts. Summerville Seeks Bids For Right Of Way Mowing For Gas Department

GSP Report On Thursday’s Accident On Oak Hill Road

The Georgia State Patrol says that an accident on Oak Hill Road just west of River Road in Lyerly last Thursday was caused by excessive speed.  According to a report released on Monday, the driver, identified as twenty-eight-year-old Mariom Elizabeth Lea, was traveling east on Oak Hill Road and failed to negotiate a curve.  The 2019 Nissan Kicks she was driving left the roadway and struck an embankment and overturned. A witness with Chattooga County Public Works told troopers that the car was driving too fast for conditions at the time of the accident.  The driver was transported by Atrium Health Floyd EMS with unspecified injuries, according to the report.

117th Georgia State Trooper Graduation Held Last Week

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) graduated its 117th Trooper School Friday, September 13, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth. After 34 weeks of intense training, 39 new Troopers will report to one of 52 patrol posts around the state.

Georgia Gas Prices Fall Again

Georgia’s gas price average plunged at the pumps compared to a week ago. Georgians pay an average of $2.97 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 9 cents less than a week ago, 27 cents less than a month ago, and 47 cents less than last year. It costs drivers an average price of $44.55 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are paying $4.05 less to fill up at the pump than a month ago.

243 Voter Challenges To Voter Registrations In Chattooga County

The Chattooga County Registrars Office says that they have received 243 voter challenges under the Georgia code that allows any voter in the state to challenge the eligibility of voters that are registered in a particular county.

Water Service Interruption In Menlo On Wednesday

The City of Menlo is notifying water customers on Ridge Street and South Shinbone Road that water service will be interrupted on Wednesday, September 18th for a period of time while repairs are being made to the water line.  The city says that the repairs are necessary to perform leak repairs in the area.
