Georgia Gas Prices Edge Down Slowly

Georgia’s gas price average has slowed at the pumps compared to a week ago. Georgians are paying an average price of $3.33 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s sate average was 1 cent less than a week ago,1 cent more than a month ago, and 21 cents less than this time last year. It costs drivers an average price of $49.95 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying $3.00 less to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.

Summerville City Council Called Meeting This Evening

The Summerville City Council will hold a called meeting coming up this evening to interview candidates for the position of City Manager.  Current City Manager Andrea Surratt will be leaving her post at the end of the month and the council is expected to hire a replacement before August 15th.

Georgia’s Pre-K Celebrating 32nd Year

School bells are ringing for the state’s youngest learners as Georgia’s Pre-K Program begins its 32nd year. The first day of Georgia’s Pre-K Program will vary based on school system and child care provider. It started as early as July 26 in Chattooga County and as late as the week of September 3 in Murray and Webster counties. Most Georgia school systems begin classes during the first two weeks of August.

Sign Up For Low Cost Spay & Neuter Starts Today

Last week, Animal Advocates of Chattooga County announced that they had ran out of funding for the spay and neuter grants that were available for pet owners in Chattooga County.  However, County Commissioner Blake Elsberry and Chattooga County Animal Control came up with an alternative that will be available to pet owners, with registration starting today for a low-cost spay and neuter clinic in partnership with the Atlanta Humane Society.
