The Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park will be having another Homemade Ice Cream Sale coming up this Saturday, June 29th at Sloppy Floyd State Park. LaFayette Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person who was caught on camera breaking into storage units inside the city limits of LaFayette. Images from surveillance cameras at the storage unit facility show a man with a dark tank top and cap breaking into a unit. Also, there is a picture of the suspect’s vehicle – a white work truck with a utility bed and a single-axle trailer. Anyone with information should contact LaFayette Police Det. Sgt. Georgia Power has expanded a program previously known as the “Income-Qualified Senior Discount” to benefit many more customers who have limited incomes and financial resources. The program expansion follows approval by the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) in December 2023, and went into effect on May 1, 2024. Through the expanded program, the company expects to make the discount available to tens of thousands of additional customers each year.
The City of Summerville will hold a called meeting this evening at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to deal with the ongoing issue of the office of building inspector. Since the resignation of the city’s building inspector, residents have been buying building permits with no one to do the inspections. Those issues will be addressed at tonight’s meeting. On the agenda, the council is scheduled to modify the building inspection fees and to take up a resolution to suspend the office of building inspector. The public is invited to attend.
