Adult Basketball League At Trion Recreation Department

A meeting for the adult basketball league at Trion Recreation Department will be held on June 17th.  Rosters and fees are due at the meeting which will be held at 6 PM.  Anyone with questions, should contact Fitz at (706) 734-2011 after 5 PM for questions.  The fee is $400 per team.

Former Trion Principal Named Floyd County Schools’ Director Of Student Services

 Scott Crabbe Named Executive Director of Student Services

A former Trion Middle School science teacher and school principal has been named the Executive Director of Student Services for the Floyd County School System.  Floyd County School Superintendent Dr. Glenn White made the announcement last week that Scott Crabbe would be stepping into the new role and will be overseeing student support services throughout the Floyd County School District.

The Walker County Board of Commissioners is developing their fiscal year budget and asked department heads for budget requests for the upcoming fiscal year.  Jenna Stevens, director of the county-owned Mountain Cove Farms asked commissioners for an increase in the venue’s budget.

Chattooga BOE Budget Meeting This Week

The Chattooga County Board of Education will hold the second of two budget meetings coming up this Thursday, June 13th at the Chattooga County Education Center on Penn Street in Summerville.  The purpose of the meeting is to provide for public input on the operating budget of the county school system.  A copy of the tentative budget can be found HERE. The meeting this Thursday will take place at 8 AM and the public is invited and encouraged to attend with any questions or comments about the budget.  The board will hold a meeting on June 20th to adopt the budget.

Single Vehicle Wreck Sends One To Chattooga Emergency Department

A single-vehicle accident on Highway 48 between Summerville and Menlo on Saturday afternoon sent one person to the emergency department.  According to Georgia State Patrol Rome Post 38 Commander Chris Harris, the vehicle was traveling on Highway 48 in the vicinity of Sunnydale Road when it left the roadway and overturned.  The driver was transported by Atrium Health Floyd EMS to the Atrium Health Chattooga Emergency Department.  No word on the driver’s condition and a complete report will be released when the investigation into the accident is completed by the Georgia State Patrol.  The accident happened around 3 PM on Saturday and some Georgia Power customers were without power in the area.
