A runoff election to determine Chattooga County’s next coroner will be held on June 18th. Jeremy “Big Mac” McElhaney, the front runner in a four-way primary race, did not obtain at least 50% of the vote and will be facing off against Savanna McGill in the runoff election. Georgia is one of just a handful of states in the United States where the winner of the most votes must get to the 50% threshold in order to claim victory. Those planning to request an absentee ballot for the runoff election have until this Friday, June 7th to make that request. Advanced voting for the runoff election will start on June 10th. All advanced voting for the runoff election will take place at the Chattooga County Registrars Office, located on Commerce Street next to the courthouse in downtown Summerville.
