The Floyd County Police Department is issuing a crucial reminder to residents to prioritize the security of their vehicles and valuables.
The Trion Fire Department recently announced that Chip Rowland will be in concert on May 18th at the Trion Fire Department Community Day. The event is free and everyone is encouraged to attend. The event will feature inflatables, games, fire safety events, free smoke alarms and food. LifeForce will be on hand at the event as well. The event will be held at the Trion Track Field. The fire department is also selling whole Boston Butts for $45 each and will be selling Boston Butt plates for $10 the day of the event. The deadline is approaching for students to sign up for the Chattooga County Young Farmers annual Pig Project. Students will receive 2 pigs that they will raise and then auction off later this fall. A preview show will be held at the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair in August. The project is limited based on the number of pigs available and preference is given to 4-H and FFA students. Georgia’s gas price average increased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgians are paying an average price of $3.46 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 7 cents more than a week ago, 13 cents more than a month ago, and 19 cents more than this time last year. It costs drivers an average price of $51.90 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying almost $3.00 more to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.

Federal immigration officials have placed a hold on a truck driver who was accused of a fatal accident that killed a Calhoun woman.
A contractor was arrested in Northwest Georgia last week after he was accused of taking money from a homeowner and never performing the work. Police say that Robert Carter III of Rome was hired to do several home improvement jobs but never started any of the projects. Reports indicated that Carter was hired to work on the victim’s floors, counter tops, cabinets and fence and took $1,823 in payment between December of last year and January of this year without performing any work. Carter is charged with conversion of payments for real property improvements.
