A man who was on the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office’s “Most Wanted” list is now in custody.

ALABAMA, the most successful band in country music history, on Thursday, revealed its 2024 ROLL ON II North America Tour, presented by Kenworth. The GRAMMY, CMA and ACM-Award winning group will tour the countryside, performing in arenas, amphitheaters and at festivals in over 20 cities. Tour stops include Clearwater, FL; Norfolk, VA; Hershey, PA; Orange Beach, AL; Columbia, SC; Columbus, OH, as well as a stop in Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada.
The Georgia Archives invites residents statewide to attend its Annual History Symposium on “Commemorating 150 Years of the Georgia Department of Agriculture”, set for Saturday, April 6th from 9 am to 4 pm. This symposium will feature scholarly presentations on the impact of agriculture on Georgia’s history and culture. It is free and open to the public.

An informational meeting is being held next week concerning a new program for students grades 7-12 that would like to make a difference in their community. Summerville Main Street is looking for youths who are interested in becoming a volunteer with the new “Junior Mainstreet Program”. The meeting will take place next Tuesday, March 26th from 6:30 PM until 7:30 PM at The Summerville Depot on West Washington Street. Parents are asked to attend the meeting as well.
State Senator Colton Moore said on the floor of the state senate on Wednesday of this week that he was “beside himself” because he was angry that a bill that he refused to advance in the senate was being voted on. The bill that came from the Georgia House would allow Chattooga County, Summerville and Trion to implement an excise tax on hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts and other tourist facilities. That tax would then be used to promote tourism in the county.

Summerville Police were called to Bellah Avenue on Tuesday of this week in reference to a theft. They spoke with the complainant who said that she was having a conversation outside the residence with a man that she identified to police.
Next Friday March 29, 2024 is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. VFW Post 6688 and the Auxiliary along with other veteran supporters will honor Vietnam Veterans with a program and lunch at 11:30am at the Chattooga County Memorial Home located at 818 Memorial Drive Summerville, GA.
