This event, open to all Georgians, and offers a continental breakfast for all attendees.
The Trion Rec Department will be hosting a Free Movie Night coming up tomorrow, Friday, March 15th. The event is free and concessions will be available. The movie being shown will be The Sandlot. Be sure to bring a chair or blanket and come out and enjoy the movie.
Throughout the year and especially in March, Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Harbin Clinic encourages everyone 45 years of age and older to schedule a preventative screening for colorectal cancer. In 2024, it’s expected that this form of cancer will be the cause of death for more than 53,000 Americans. The American Cancer Society also reports 1 in 3 Americans are not up to date with colorectal cancer screenings even as the number of people diagnosed under the age of 50 is rapidly increasing.

Results from the Presidential Preference Primary in Chattooga County were released late Tuesday night by Chattooga County Election Superintendent and Probate Judge Gary Woods. The results were pretty much a foregone conclusion with former President Donald J. Trump netting the vast majority of votes in the county. Only 222 people voted in the Democratic Presidential Preference Primary in the county. Incumbent President Joe Biden received 202 votes with other candidates only receiving a total of 20 votes. In the Republican Presidential Preference Primary, former President Trump received 2,174 votes out of a total of 2,356 votes counted. In all, less than 10% of registered voters cast ballots in the primaries.
Lauren Elsberry penned an opinion article that was published in the Atlanta Journal Constitution last week. Elsberry, is a registered nurse and the wife of Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry. She is also one of the founding members of the Moms For Liberty group in Chattooga County. Elsberry’s article focuses on the desire of some for state tax dollars to be used for private education.
U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced she has secured just over $3.8 million in federal funding for the runway extension at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport in Floyd County. The Rome Republican also netted earmarks for smaller projects in Gordon, Dade, Whitfield, Paulding and Cobb counties in the Fiscal Year 24 budget signed into law Saturday by President Joe Biden.
