Mrs. Sylvia Brooks Hall-Johnson, Obit. (M)

Mrs. Sylvia Brooks Hall-Johnson age 80 of Lyerly, GA passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at a Rome, GA hospital.

Mrs. Johnson was born August 9, 1945 in Summerville, GA to the late John S. and Olivia Rowlls Brooks. She was retired from the Department of Family and Children’s Services where she served for 34 years. She was well known for her love and compassion for others. She was a former member of Son Rise Community Church, and attended Mtn. View Baptist Church and Wayside Baptist Church. She was a fan of Law and Order SVU, along with John Grisham & James Patterson books and also enjoyed spending time with her grand-dog Gunner.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband Truman Hall; her second husband, Ronald E. Johnson; and siblings, George S. Brooks, Charles T. Brooks, and Alice A. Jones.
Survivors include her son, Matthew (Debbie) Hall; step children, Ricky (Laura) Johnson and Rhonda Lively; step-grandchildren, Micah Lively and Zach Lively; great-grandchildren, Halle Lively, Dana Lee Lively, Bristol Kate Lively, Jake Lively, Blain Lively, and Jana Lively.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Johnson will take place at 2:00 PM Monday, April 6 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Mr. Matt Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Lyerly Cemetery with Brian Scott, Dale Russell, Chuck Boyd, Mark Floyd, Micah Lively, and Zach Lively serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Brooks, Tommy Brooks, Jimmy Hosmer, Wes Love, Brandon Gurley, Jeremy Worsham, members of her Sunday School Classes, and members of the Silver Sneakers.

The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 noon until the service hour at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the local homeless relief agency and/or the Restoration House.

MS. BARBARA LYNETTE PRICE ADAMS – Age 53, – Of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026. Ms. Adams was born on July 9, 1972 in Menlo, Georgia. She was preceded by her father Bobby Parker. Barbara is a graduate of Chattooga High School and attended Floyd College. She was an Administrative Assistant at Tip Top.

Mrs. Linda Louise Masters, Obit. (C)

Mrs. Linda Louise Masters, age 81, of Trion, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026, at her home.

Born on September 14, 1944, in Trion, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jules Stephens and Louise Martin Stephens. Mrs. Masters retired from the Roper Corporation and was a dedicated member of the Baptist faith. She earned her cosmetology license in the early 1980s and joyfully worked in various salons as well as from her home for over three decades. She found great pleasure in tending to her yard and flower beds, was an avid golfer who competed in the Roper Golf League, and was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan.

Mrs. Masters was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim Williams; her grandson, Steven James Fountain; and her brother, Eugene Stephens.

She is lovingly survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lexi Fountain; brothers and sister-in-law, Larry Stephens and Ken and Hilda Stephens; five grandchildren, Addison Fountain, Autumn Fountain, Lee Gass, Ian Lowe, and Brayden Stoker; two great-grandchildren, Oakley Lowe and Emma Gass; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Ashley Penton officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Randy Moon, Benjie Broome, Chad Hunt, Jonathan Ford, Mark Schrader, and Jason Brown, with Lee Gass and Ian Lowe serving as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Jamison Lee “Jamie” Hankins, Obit. (C)

Mr. Jamison Lee “Jamie” Hankins, age 46, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the residence of his mother in Menlo, Georgia. Born on December 18, 1979, in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, Jamie lived a life characterized by dedication to his craft, devotion to family, and a zest for the simple joys of life.

A man of the Baptist faith, Jamie was self-employed as a carpenter, a profession that not only reflected his skill and hard work but also his commitment to building and creating with care and precision. His love for fishing brought him tranquility, while his reputation as the ultimate backyard grill master echoed the warmth and generosity he shared with those around him.

Jamie is survived by his mother and step-father, Betty and Kelly Wentz, who stood by his side throughout his life. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter, Macy Edgerton-Davis, and her husband, Garrett, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Bobby Teems. His brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Lindsey Hankins, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, carry forward his memory in their hearts.

In accordance with Jamie’s wishes, he will be cremated, and his family plans to hold a private memorial service at a later date. The intimate nature of the ceremony reflects the close-knit bonds he cherished.

Mrs. Eunice Irene Cagle, Obit. (M)

Mrs. Eunice Irene Cagle, age 83, of LaFayette, GA, died Thursday, March 26, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. Cagle was born August 11, 1942, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Oscar Daniel Hawkins and Janie Elizabeth Broadrick Hawkins.  She was retired from the textile industry and had attended Trinity Church of God.

Mrs. Cagle loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed thrift shopping with Tyler, making canvas art, and working puzzles with her sisters.  She also loved gardening, working in her flowers, and taking care of her chickens.  Going out every morning to feed her chickens and collect her eggs was one of her favorite things to do.  She also loved sitting on the creek bank fishing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Cagle; second husband, Jimmy Allen; brothers, Robert D. Hawkins, Henry (Brenda) Hawkins, Leonard (Debbie) Hawkins; sisters, Louise Robinson, Brenda (Tommy) Young; step-father, J.C. Broadrick; brother-in-law, Arlie Robinson; grandson, Charles Lynn Cagle; great-grandson, Hayden Cagle; and a nephew, Kenneth Robinson.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne (Lynn) Cagle, Albert (Wendy) Cagle; a daughter, Tina (Chuck) Akery; a sister, Sarah Robinson; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 29, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Robinson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Tommy Young, Jay Young, Daniel Robinson, Stacey Robinson, Preston Harris, and Cameron Hinton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Johnathan Scott, Cassey Robinson, Travis Tucker, and Brien Robinson.

Mr. Jacky Jarrells, Obit (ER)

MR. JACKY JARRELLS, age 70, of Back Penn Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Monday morning, March 23, 2026, in a Rome hospital following an illness. He was born on September 11, 1955 in Welch, West Virginia to the late Morton and Edna Canada Jarrells. Mr. Jarrells was retired mechanic for Smith Iron Works. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, the late Larry Jarrells, James Jarrells, and Patricia McMillon; girl friend, the late Phyllis Coleman.

Surviving are sons, Robert (Jennifer) Jarrells, Jackie (Tubby) Jarrells, Phillip (Kristta) Jarrells, Elmer (Tammy Crews), Jarrells, Chris (Juanita) Reed, Tressie (Priscilla) Johnson; grandchildren, Jayden & Jaysten Jarrells, Jousha & Tabbie Jarrells, Isabell & Jeremiah Crews.

Ms. Sandra Kaye Hunter Crowe, Obit (M)

Ms. Sandra Kaye Hunter Crowe, age 66, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, March 16, 2026, at CHI Memorial Hospital.

Ms. Crowe was born January 29, 1960, daughter of the late Marvin Hunter and the late Dorothy Siffles.  She was employed with I.F.S.

Ms. Crowe was a wildflower in a world of weeds; a free spirit, a beautiful soul, and a person that could simply not be caged.  She loved her family with a love that knew no bounds, a love that never ends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Kevin Hunter.

Survivors include her daughters, Jamie (Michael) Hancock, Samantha DeBerry, and Sarah DeBerry; step-mother, Mattie Hunter; brother, Larry (A.J.) Hunter; sister, Fran (Randall) Hamilton; her former husband, John Crowe; 6 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, March 27, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Fulbright officiating.

Ms. Jackie Sue Beam Simpson, Obit. (M)

Ms. Jackie Sue Beam Simpson, age 77, of Menlo, GA, died Saturday, March 21, 2026, at her residence.

Ms. Simpson was born September 3, 1948, in Menlo, GA, daughter of the late Roy Eugene Beam and Lois Pearl Thomas Beam.  She was a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church.

Ms. Simpson received her nursing diploma in 1969, starting a lifetime of dedication to serving many medical institutions including Hutcheson Medical Center, Chattooga County Hospital and Nursing Home, Chattooga County EMS, Harbin Clinic Dialysis Center, North Georgia Home Health, and Erlanger Medical Center.  She served in many roles during her nursing career including Director of Nursing for the Chattooga County Nursing Home.  In all, she had over 50 years of service in the nursing field.

Survivors include her sons, Charles “Chuck” (Caroline) Harris, Jason Harris; daughter, Sally Harris; grandchildren, Jayce Harris, Kamdyn Harris, Brittani Ingram, and Marti Smith.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Greenhills Memory Gardens with Rev. Matthew Willingham officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Chuck Harris, Jason Harris, Jayce Harris, and Kamdyn Harris.  Honorary pallbearers will be her special caregivers, Cissy Hollingsworth, Freda Robinson, Sheliah Sisson, Rhonda Summerlin, and Rachel Crowe.

Ms. Simpson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday.

Mrs. Wanda Willingham England, Obit. (C)

Mrs. Wanda Willingham England, age 74 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in a Villa Rica hospital.

Wanda was born in Lafayette, Georgia on December 28, 1951, daughter of the late Wilburn Owen Willingham and Faye Copeland Willingham.  She was a member of the Pennville Baptist Church and was retired from the kitchen of B&B Market.  Following her retirement, she was a caregiver and a staple at Sandra’s Pawn Shop.  Wanda enjoyed reading and taking care of her cat, Smokey.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husbands, Avery T. Pierce and John E. England, Jr.; and two brothers, Steve “Bilver” Willingham and David Willingham.

Wanda is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and John Faulkner; step-daughter and her husband, Teresa and Tony Price; sisters, Sandra Geniece Burrage and Candi Willingham; grandchildren, Grace Faulkner and Emily Parker; seven great grandchildren; special friends, Waydean Jackson, Dot Shankles and Sarah Daniel; family friend, Tony Watson; her wonderful neighbors, Ryan and Skye Crabtree and Gary Broyles; her pastor and his wife, Terry and Kathy Colbert; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. John Maurice “Fargo” Collette, Obit (C )

Mr. John Maurice “Fargo” Collette, age 80 of Trion, Georgia passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at his residence.

Fargo was born in Tallahassee, Florida on March 12, 1945, son of the late Joseph Wesley “Joe” Collette, Sr. and Zalula Ruth Chamlee Collette.  He was a member of the SonRise Community Church and was retired from the train yard at GE in Rome.  Fargo enjoyed meeting and talking with people and was was well known in the community.  He was a HAMM radio operator and member of the CARC (Chattooga Amateur Radio Club) and was very active on the CERT Team.  He was the unofficial Wal-Mart Greeter and was an avid cat lover.

In addition to his parents, Fargo was preceded in death by a son, John Maurice Collette, Jr. and a grandson, Jordan Reynolds.

Fargo is survived by his children and their spouses, Eisa Collette, Tina Collette, Brian and Savannah Collette and Wess and Wendy Collette; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Teresa Collette, Joe and Jackie Collette and Jody Collette; sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and Steve Smithson; grandchildren, Braxton Sanford, Lilly Keith, Tabitha and Kyle Lutz and Emilie Collette; great grandson, Dex Cargle; a very special friend, Sierra Woods; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
