Mrs. Ina Jennie Ray, age 85, of Resaca, GA, passed away Thursday September 22, 2011 in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Ray was born March 1, 1926, in Chillicothe, Ohio, She was a Book Keeper for Chitwood Rug, and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church. Survivors include her brothers, Chester Baer, George Baer, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday September 24, 2011 from the Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Bret Yaeger and Rev. David Ray officiating with interment in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Ray, Chris Ray, J.H. Cooper, Jack Fuller, Lynn Ekin, Doc Shipman. Mrs. Ray will be in state at the Temple Baptist Church in Resaca, Saturday September 24, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until the service hour. Mrs. Shirley Ann Hurley Petitt, age 75 of Highway 27 Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Petitt was born August 29, 1936 in Summerville, GA.  She was employed for 34 years with the Chattooga County School System and was  a member of the Pennville First Baptist Church.
  Mrs. Petitt was preceded in death by husband, J. W. "Bob" Petitt, father and mother, Austin and Nora Mitchell Hurley; brothers and sisters-in-law, J. C. and Doris Hurley and Ernest "Lard" and Dot Hurley.
   Mrs. Petitt is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Jimmy Lenderman of Summerville, Ga; and son, Chris Petitt of Summerville, GA.  7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. from the Pennville First Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Pledger and Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.  Interment will be in the Perennial Springs Cemetery. Summerville, GA.
   Mrs. Petitt will be in state at the funeral home on Thursday, September 22, 2011 where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Flora Beatrice Bradley Stancil, age 92 of Douglasville, Georgia formerly of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Stancil was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on April 20, 1919, daughter of the late Fate Bradley and Viola Holcomb Bradley. She attended the Higher Ground Baptist Church in Douglasville and was a member of the Berryton Church of God. Mrs. Stancil was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Lee Stancil; children, Hugh Don Stancil, James Ralph Stancil, Bill Glen Stancil, Danny Ray Stancil, Mary Helen Stancil, Ted Stancil and Robert Lee Stancil; sisters, Cora Annis Garmony, Dora Mae Adkins, Nora Lee O’Bryant, and Opal Spear; and a brother, Neely Bradley.

Mrs. Stancil is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David D. and Joyce Stancil of Douglasville; daughter-in-law, Linda Stancil of Cartersville; sister, Faye Moon of Centre, AL; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Stancil will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Berryhill and Rev. Jerry Rutledge officiating. Interment will follow in the Needmor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Lee Stancil, Travis Stancil, Jackie Stancil, Jerry Stancil, Eric Evans, and Lake England. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy & Deanna Peavine, James & Ashley Caviness, Wesley & Becky Garmony and Johnny & Elizabeth Reynolds.

Mrs. Stancil will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.

MR. RICKEY LAMAR HAMPTON, age 54, of Cloudland, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Walker County, Georgia on November 11, 1956, was a son of the late Bertha Brown Hampton, and Hoyt Hampton who survives. He was an auto body repairman.

Surviving are daughters, Melissa Sue Hampton and Rochelle Louise Hampton of Indiana; father & mother- Hoyt & Ann Hampton of Cloudland; sisters-Linda Erwin of Centre, AL., Brenda Guffey of Cloudland, Barbara Hampton of Summerville; Lisa Hampton of Cloudland, brother-Terry Hampton of Indiana; half sisters- Linda Sue Ingle and Darlene Ingle; half brother-Danny Ingle all of Chattanooga; four Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 20th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Williams officiating, interment in Mount Olive Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Anthony Downey, Levi Smith, Dale Pevehouse, Reuben Gaskey, Brandon Leming, Kenneth Bates. Mrs. Arlene Priscilla Fisher, age 89 of Lyerly, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Fisher was born in Nazareth, Pennsylvania on April 7, 1922, daughter of the late Willis L. Johnson and Vertie Bickert Johnson. She was of the Methodist Faith and prior to retirement was employed as a sewing machine operator. Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Fisher, who passed away on September 20, 2010; and brother, Russell Johnson.

Mrs. Fisher is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Becky Hoagland of Lyerly; sisters, Rachel Haas, Nazareth, PA, Gloria Young of Windgap, PA and Mary Ann Declerk of New York; sister-in-law, Dolly Johnson; grandchildren, Paul and Diana Hoagland of Pahrump, PA and Dawn and Rodney Simmons of Shelbyville, TN; great grandchildren, Jonathan Justice, Stephanie Simmons, Danielle Hoagland, Tammi Egenriether and Brian Egenriether; and a number of nieces and nephews.

According to Mrs. Fisher wishes, she will be cremated and the family will have a private memorial service at a later date

Mrs. Geraldine McClendon Wiggins of Lyerly passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center, She was the widow of the late Merial and  Bo Wiggins and preceded in death by her son Roy Milton Wiggins.

Survivors are her loving and caring family, three daughters, Mrs. Beverly and Donnie McSears of Lafayette, GA. Ms. Rose Powell of Lyerly, GA., and Ms. Francine Wiggins of Summerville, GA.; four sons, Mr. Merial and Jeanette Wiggins, Jr. of Decatur, GA. Joey and Danita Wiggins, Kelly Wiggins, and Gary Wiggins of Lyerly, GA; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Mrs. Earnestine and Waldo Finley of Cincinnati, OH, Mrs. Jimmie Ronune of Chicago, IL, Mrs. Bonita and Jeffery Bethea of Norcross, GA, Mrs. Letty Wiggins of Lyerly; brother-in-law, Mr. Joe Bob Wiggins of Summerville; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Homecoming Services for Mrs. Geraldine Wiggins will be Monday, September 19, 2011 at 2 pm at Pond Spring A.M.E. Zion Church with Minister Jennifer Belcher, Eulogist, and Pastor D.L. Mr. Felton Smith Jr. 84 of Chickamauga passed away Monday September 12th, he was a retired construction worker and veteran of the armed forces and a Baptist by faith, Preceded in death by His parents, Mr. Felton Smith Sr. and Mrs Mattie Mae Avery Smith…..Survivors include a special friend Mrs. Ella B.
