Mrs. Deborah Kay Spurlock Meadows, age 53, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday March 18, 2017, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Meadows was born June 25, 1964, in Grundy, VA, the daughter of the late Everett and Gladys McGuire Spurlock.  She was a member of the North New Hope Baptist Church, a home maker, and preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Meadows, sons, Curtis Marcum, Ernest Marcum, Jesse Marcum, brothers, William (Timmy) Spurlock, Ronald Eugene Spurlock, sisters, Evelyn Lemming, Teresa Gail Hamby, 1 grandchild.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday March 20, 2017 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Bishop officiating with burial in the Subligna Cemetery.  Active pallbearers, Robert Jerrells, Andy Howard, Daniel Hall, Mark Godfrey, Tracy Johnson, Jackie Jarrells .

MR. JAMES W. HUNT, age 88, of Lyerly Dam Road, Lyerly, Georgia passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, morning at his residence.  He was born in Tishomingo, Miss. on January 18, 1929 to the late Willie Leonard and Mamie Jewell Butler Hunt.   Mr. Hunt was a member of the Lyerly First Baptist Church and for many years operated his own small engine mechanic shop at the residence.

        Surviving are His wife of 67 years, Irene Howard Hunt; children, Winston (Sue) Hunt, Peggy Hunt Anderson, & Danny Hunt; grandchildren, Wesley (Deborah) Hunt, Lisa Hunt, Laurel (Dan) Foust, James (Samantha) Anderson, Eddie Burch, Tony Hunt, Melanie Hunt; great grandchildren, Damien, Vaughn, Avery, Ashlyn, Abbie, Jackson, Dylon, Mason, Canan. Lydia, Preston, Josie, Chloe, Parker, Gage, & Kinsley; sisters, Reba Clark, Joyce Johnson, Judy Klimp, & Paulette (Toby) Worley;  several Nieces & Nephews.  

        Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 15th, at 11:00 A.M. from the Lyerly First Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Peppers, Rev. Ralph Sumner, and Rev. MR. HASKEL (“JOHNNY”) REED – Age 72, – Of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Hezekiah Reed and Willie Mae Powell Reed, and sister, Bertha Brown.  He was a member of the West Fifth Street Church of Christ.  He was employed at some of the local body shops as a repairman.

He is survived by his sister, July Shropshire of Summerville, Georgia; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 2:00 P. M. at West Fifth Street Church of Christ, Summerville, Georgia, with Bro. J. J. Bankston as Eulogist and Bro. Mr. Clarence Norman Blevins, age 76, of Trion, GA, died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Floyd Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mr. Blevins was born May 6, 1940, in Long Island, AL, son of the late Robert Edward Lee Blevins and Dorothy Marie Durham Blevins.  He graduated from South Pittsburg High School in 1958, then went on to graduate Tennessee Tech in 1962 with a Bachelor’s Degree.  Mr. Blevins earned his Master’s Degree in 1969 from Middle Tennessee State University, and his Ed.S. from Jacksonville State University in 1982.  He served as a coach at Canton High School from 1962 to 1965 and at Trion High School from 1965 to 1998 where he coached the football team of the 1974 Class B. State Championship.  Mr. Blevins also served as the Trion High School Principal from 1976 until 1998.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Don Blevins and Melvin Lee Blevins.

Mr. Blevins is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Ellis Blevins; son, Gregory Lee Blevins; daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Donald McGraw; grandchildren, Jarin (Jennifer) Blevins, Daniel (Alissa) Blevins; Ashley (Cain) Smith, Logan Blevins, Mandy (Chad) Durham, Macy Hammonds, and Austin McGraw; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Blevins will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Woods and Mr. Dan Logan officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Jarin Blevins, Daniel Blevins, Logan Blevins, Cain Smith, Donald McGraw, and Austin McGraw.  Honorary pallbearers will be the players of the Trion High School State Football Championship Team of 1974.

MR. JAMES W. HUNT, age 86, of Lyerly Dam Road, Lyerly, Georgia passed away Monday morning at his residence.  Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Rev. James Stanford Braddy, age 88 of Trion, GA passed away Thursday, March 09, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.

Rev. Braddy was born in Trion, Georgia on November 23, 1928, son of the late Mack Posey Braddy and Essie Perkins Braddy.  He was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church and was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class.  Rev. Braddy had been a minister of the Gospel since 1955 and pastored and served as interim pastor at many churches including Texas Grove Baptist Church in Spring City, TN; Mount Zion Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA; New Antioch Baptist Church, Calhoun; Antioch Baptist Church, Calhoun; Hale Memorial Baptist Church; Central Avenue Baptist Church, Trion; Hopewell Baptist Church, Bridgeport, AL; Woodstation Baptist Church, Lafayette; Providence Baptist Church; McMinnville, TN; Oothcalooga Baptist Church, Adairsville; Mt. Calvary Baptist Church; Solid Rock Baptist Church, Trion; Silver Hill Baptist Church, Gore; and Midway Baptist Church, Summerville.  Rev. Braddy had a love for people and it showed in his interaction with people.  He could often be seen at Trade Day and McDonalds, but could easily be talked in to a round of Golf.  In addition to his parents, Rev. Braddy was preceded in death by his son, James Timothy “Timmy” Braddy; an infant brother; his sisters, Lorraine, Maxine, Betty, and Frances, and a granddaughter, Haley Griers.

Rev. Braddy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Braddy; daughters and son-in-law, Lynn and Chuck Barnett and Susan Pope; grandchildren, Jeff Young, Lori Young Casey, Brian Cobb and Jason Braddy; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Rev. Braddy will be held Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Weaver and Rev. Tony Weaver officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Young, Brian Cobb, Tylor Cobb, Brandon Bishop, Grant Latta and Mike Wood.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of Dry Valley Baptist Church.

Mr. Joel DeWayne Whittle, age 44 of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 08, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Whittle was born in Ft. Payne, Alabama on July 3, 1972, son of Joyce Brandon Spraggins and the late Terry Allen Whittle.  He was a member of the Victory Tabernacle in Lafayette.  Mr. Whittle was an ordained minister and was employed as a Truck Driver with Mohawk Industries.  He loved wood working, riding motorcycles, tinkering with antique cars and was an avid Alabama Fan.  In addition to his father, Mr. Whittle was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Mary M. Griggs.

Mr. Whittle is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Whittle; a son, J.D. Whittle; step-children, David Griggs, Jr., Anita Curtis, Donna Byars and Lisa and Michael Kirk; brother, Lamar (Lori) Spraggins; sisters, Michelle (Les) Hall and Becky (Charlie)Eaton; mother and stepfather, Joyce  and Ronnie Spraggins; 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Whittle will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 4:00 P.M. in the Redemption Worship Center (Formerly Freedom Tabernacle) with Rev. Ken Westmoreland and Rev. LeBron Long officiating.  Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Gruber, Gary Rape, James Samples, Clayton Pierce, Jeff Martin and Michael Kirk.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Mohawk Truck Drivers and the staff of Hearth Hospice.

MR. DONNELL DEMETRIUS “OG” JONES – Age 56, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017. Mrs. Dawana Jodie-Lynn Williamson, age 58, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Williamson was born June 11, 1958, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of the late Billie and Naomi Lea Moses.  She enjoyed printing, drawing, writing, and embroidering, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Roper.

Mrs. Williamson is survived by her husband, Terry Howard Williamson; sons and daughter-in-law, Dylan and Emily Williamson, Payton Williamson; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Maritza Moses; sisters and brother-in-law, Billie and Reece McRae, Margaret Moses; grandchildren, Hunter Williamson, Lillie Grace Williamson, Caiden Michael Williamson, Serenity Jade Williamson, and Drayden Williamson.
