Mrs. JoAnne Burns Suggs, Updated Obit (Coffman)

Mrs. JoAnne Burns Suggs, age 76, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

 

Mrs. Suggs was born in Athens, Georgia on May 27, 1940, daughter of the late James E. Burns and Margaret Barnette Burns. She was a past member of the Trion United Methodist Church, but until failing health had been attending the Subligna Church of Christ.  Mrs. Suggs was a member and past president of the Lion’s Club, was a former Girl Scout Leader, was a volunteer for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and was strongly involved and supportive of all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.   Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Suggs had been employed as a Registered Nurse, but her most treasured times were being a mother and grandmother, and spending time with family.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “Larry” Suggs; a brother, Jimmy Burns; brothers-in-law, Dan Clemmer and Robert Suggs.

 

Mrs. Suggs is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeff and Bobbi Suggs, Todd and Sue Suggs, and Sharon and Scott Sanford; brother-n-law and sisters-in-law, Becky Suggs, Tom and Joyce Suggs and Mary Ann Clemmer; grandchildren, Adam Suggs, Jordan Suggs, David Powell, Daniel Sanford, James and Bailey Suggs; Sarah and Michael Peppers, Shayna Suggs, Josh Suggs, Jacob and CC Gill and Logan Suggs; great grandchildren, Emmitt Cheek, Noah Gill, Chance Cheek, Ethan Cheek and Jack Dooley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Suggs will be held Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. David Autry officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Adam Suggs, Jordan Suggs, David Powell, Daniel Sanford, James Suggs, Sarah Peppers, Shayna Suggs, Jacob Gill and Josh Suggs.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Logan Suggs, who is currently serving in the United States Air Force.

 

Mrs. Suggs will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M.

 

The Suggs Family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mrs. Katie Lynn Hughes, age 34 of Henegar, AL passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at her residence.  Mrs. Hughes was born April 13, 1982 in Rhea Co., TN to Dwight and the late Dianna Phillips Hughes. She is survived by her spouse; LaWanda Hughes and her daughter; Jasmine Shafer.
 
Graveside services for Mrs. Hughes will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) Thursday, March 29 at West Hill Cemetery with burial to follow.

The family will receive friends at Mason Funeral Home Thursday from 10:00 AM (EST) until the hour of the service.

Miss Jennifer Maxine Cole Updated Obit (M)

Miss Jennifer Maxine Cole, age 74, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Miss Cole was born August 27, 1942, in LaFayette, GA, daughter of the late Woodrow Lewis and Dorothy Ballinger Cole.  She attended the Redemption Worship Center, and prior to her retirement, was employed with E.T. Barwick.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Johnny Thornton.
Miss Cole is survived by a brother, Jimmy Cole; sister, Barbara Weaver; nephews, Randy Weaver, Steve Weaver, Adam Cole, and Jay Cole; niece, Tiffany Cole; and two step-great nephews.
Funeral services for Miss Cole will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 30, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Shores officiating.  Interment will follow in the Fairview South Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Randy Ballinger, Joe Ballinger, Eric Ballinger, William Benefield, Randy Weaver, and Adam Cole.  Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Weaver, Michael Weaver, and the Staff of Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.
 
Miss Cole will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Thursday.

Mrs. Betty Stoner Obit (M)

 Betty Stoner, of Summerville, GA, died March 24 2017.

Survivors include her Husband, Lum Stoner, sisters, Barbara Farrow, Jean Allen, and brother, Ronnie Pettyjohn.

Funeral service will be held at  2:00 P.M. Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service.

Mrs. Rosemarie Montgomery White(C)

Mrs. Rosemarie Montgomery White, age 77 of Summerville, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. White was born in Reiskirchun, Germany on November 21, 1939, daughter of the late Philipp Schild and Elise Wagester Schild.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Summerville, the McDonald’s Coffee Club, and prior to retirement, was employed as a respiratory therapist at the Chattooga County Hospital and was also a home health caregiver.  Mrs. White loved to Garden, enjoyed all types of Artwork, loved music, especially Elvis, liked played to accordion, enjoyed collecting trinkets and loved to bake different items and share them with family and friends.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Marion White and her former husband and father of her son, Eugene Montgomery, and a step-son-in-law, Jimmy Gribble.

Mrs. White is survived by her son, Grant Montgomery of Trion; sister, Elfriede Gruner of Germany; stepdaughters and their spouses, Nancy Ann Gribble, Cynthia and Eddie Wilson, Melinda and Jay Tonge and Laura and Kelvin Lovingood; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. White will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Greg King officiating.  Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Kelvin Lovingood, Larry Norton, Jay Tonge, Eddie Wilson, Darrell Parker, David Lloyd and Michael Terrell.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the McDonald’s Coffee Club and the Ladies Circle of the First Presbyterian Church, and Dan Floyd.

Mr. Walter Rayford (Ray) Reeves Obit (M)

Mr. Walter Rayford (Ray) Reeves, age 69, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Friday March 24. 2017, in Redmond Regional Center.

Mr. Reeves was born December 22, 1947, in Alexandra, AL, the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt  and Mildred Dean Nowlin Reeves.  He  retired from Hurley’s Grocery, and had worked for 18 years for Auto Zone. A former member of the Chattooga Bass Club

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Jean Hurley Reeves, daughter and sons-in-law, Tisha and Phillip Cox, Samantha and Rowan Bussey, son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Amy Reeves, grandchildren, Levi Cox and Matthew Cox, Chelsea Bussey, Landon Bussey sister Linda McCarley.

Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday March 27, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home  with Rev. Stanley Koonce officiating with interment in the Mill Creek Cemetery.  Active  pallbearers, Sonny Tidwell, Alan McCarley, David Wiggins, Roy Gary, Sean Reeves, Phillip Cox.  Honorary pallbearers, Former employee’s of Hurley’s Grocery Store, and Jimmy Cooper, Danny Blackwell, David Ford, Benny Colbert.

Mrs. Betty Sue Stoner, age 81, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday March 24, 2017, in Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Stoner was born Feb. 11, 1936, in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Emmett Charles and Mabel Hale Hines.  She was retired, having worked at Mt. Vernon Mills, Trion City School, and Orchid Cleaners.  She was a member of the Foster Mill Baptist Church, and preceded in  death by sisters, Margaret Hawkins, Mary Nell Mull, and a brother, Mitchell Hines.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Aaron Lum Stoner, brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Ronnie and Linda Pettyjohn, sisters, Barbara Farrow,  Jean Allen, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday March 27, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Pettyjohn  officiating with entombment in the Greenhills Mausoleum .  Active pallbearers, Lamar Pettyjohn, Terry Hampton, Ricky Stoner, Josh Brown, Jody Stoner, Tommy Stoner.  Honorary pallbearers will be all family members.

Mrs. Lucy Lee Brown Complete Obit (ER)

MRS. LUCY LEE BROWN, age 89, of Sloppy Floyd Lake Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, afternoon in a Rome hospital.  Mrs. Brown was born in Greenville, South Carolina on January 8, 1928 to the late Robert Ramsey and Fannie Ethel Dyer Craig.  She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, retired from sewing department of Harding Mfg. Company, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Olin Brown, Jr., daughter, the late Geraldine Whitlock, siblings, the late Watson Crain, Frances Smith, Louise Howell, Nellie Hilton, Jessie Craig, Dillard Craig, Mozelle Craig, and William Craig.

Surviving are daughters, Bernice Lee Campbell, Dianne Wooten, Patricia Ann Brown, and Donna Tidmore; son, Gary Wayne Brown; twelve Grandchildren; several Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 26th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Gary Wells officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers David Wilson, Casey Brown, Scott Whitlock, Kip Wooten, William Whitlock, and Keith Whitlock.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.  At other hours the Family will be at Mrs. Brown’s residence.

Mr. John Wayne York, age 79 of Summerville, GA passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. York was born August 3, 1937, in LaFayette, GA, son of the late Archie D. and Zella Maples York. He worked hard all of his life as a farmer and was a member of Lookout Hall Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother; Herman York; and sister, Mary Dillon.
Mr. York is survived by his loving wife; Martha Jane York; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Marsha York; brother, Raymond York; sisters, Sue Hayes, Joyce Moore, Paulett (Andy) Long, Hazel (Doug) Maddox; grandchildren, Dallas York and Jon York.
Graveside and interment services for Mr. York will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 26, 2017, from the Greenhills Memory Gardens with Min. Terry York and Min. Chris Woods officiating.  Pallbearers will be Dallas York, Jon York, Josh Daniels, Jeff Sitton, Doug Maddox, and Andy Long.

Mr. Ollie Russell “John” McGraw, Obit (M)

Mr. Ollie Russell “John” McGraw, age 84, of Summerville, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. McGraw was born February 13, 1933, in Berryton, GA, son of the late James Ollie and Roberta Nelson McGraw. He was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.  Mr. McGraw was a veteran of the United States Army and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jean Tucker McGraw; and second wife, Billie Dean McGraw; daughter, Sonja McGraw; brothers, Robert Earl “Goat” McGraw and Frankie Eugene “Cotton” McGraw; and a sister, Annie Sue Salmon.
Mr. McGraw is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Shaun and Becky McGraw; step-sons and daughter-in-law, Allen Dean, Tim and Sharon McCullough, and Terry McCullough; step-daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Pat Gaines; sister-in-law, Mildred McGraw; 3 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. McGraw will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating.  Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.
