Mr. Dennis Ronald Brown, Updated Obit (M)

Mr. Dennis Ronald Brown, age 68, of Cloudland, GA, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Mr. Brown was born December 1, 1948, in Fort McPherson, GA, son of Oneida Cross Brown and the late William Rossie Brown.  He graduated Chamblee High School in Chamblee, GA, in 1967, where he played football, soccer, and gymnastics.  He also attended Mercer University.  Prior to his retirement, he was the owner and operator of B & W Lawn Service.  Dennis was a proud Vietnam combat veteran where he earned numerous commendations including two Purple Hearts.  He was a true patriot who loved his country and was a staunch supporter of our military.  He was also an avid hunter and Nascar fan.  Dennis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  His humerous and courageous spirit touched many lives and will live on through his daughters and granddaughters. In addition to his father, William Brown, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louie Bass Cross and Mamie Carrol Cross, and Will Brown and Janie Lowrance Brown.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 46 years, Teresa Campbell Brown; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Anne Brown and Josh Goss, Wendy and Shane Spillman; mother, Oneida Cross Brown; brothers and sisters-in-law, William R. Jr. and Mary Mitchell Brown, Arthur Louie and Lisa Brown; and the joys of his life, his granddaughters, Avery Spillman and Lucillia Brown.
Graveside and interment services for Mr. Brown will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, February 11, 2017, from the Mount Olive Cemetery with his daughter, Rev. Wendy Brown Spillman officiating.  Full military honors will be rendered by the Shanklin Attaway Post 5 Honor Guard of the American Legion.  Active pallbearers will be Mark Porter, Leon Tucker, M.A. Spencer, Chip Murray, Max Tucker, and Arthur Brown, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers will be Gus Campbell, Shane Spillman, Josh Goss, Arthur Brown, III, and Rusty Brown.
Mr. Brown will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday.

Mr. Delmas Henry Sanford Obit (M)

Mr. Delmas Henry Sanford, age 65, of Cedar Bluff, AL, died Sunday, February 5, 2017, at the Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Sanford was born September 25, 1951, in Centre, AL, son of the late Henry Sanford and Christine Steele Sanford.  He attended the Lakeview Holiness Church, Upper Room, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Jack Woods Logging.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Sanford; and sisters, Peggy Weaver and Janice Gossett.

Mr. Sanford is survived by his son, Greg Sanford; daughters, Amanda (Michael) Abernathy and Christie (Don) Abernathy; step-daughter, Kimberly Boyd; brothers, Ronnie (Katie) Sanford, Jamie (Amy) Sanford, and Harvel (Linda) Sanford; and 4 grandchildren; and special friend, Trina Sweet. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Sanford will be held at 3:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Tuesday, February 7, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Hindman and Ms. Christa Bates officiating.  Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Tim Weaver, Kevin Weaver, Porter Sanford, Randy Chandler, T.R. Weaver, Adam Sharp, Darrell Weaver, and Arnel Sharp.  Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Sanford, David Sanford, and Bradley Reynolds.

Mr. Rudolph Claude Crane (M)

Mr. Rudolph Claude Crane, age 78, of Gaylesville, AL, died Friday, February 3, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Crane was born April 19, 1938, in Cedar Bluff, AL, son of the late Claude and Emmer Bradley Crane.  He attended the Freedom Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed in the Printing Department at Riegel.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Jeanette Crane; a son, James Ray; and a daughter, Tammy Crane.
Mr. Crane is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Randy and Leslie Crane, Tommy and Mary Crane; a daughter, Savanna Crane; sisters, Thelma Steele and Hazel Steele; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Crane will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Monday, February 6, 2017, from the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Hawkins and Rev. Robert Steele officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Crane, Dustin Crane, Larry Pettyjohn, Ricky Green, Matt Brewer, and Steven Britt. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Bradley, and Bruce McCurdy.
Mr. Crane will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Sunday, February 5, 2017.  He will also be in state at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church from 1:30 P.M. (E.S.T.) until the hour of service on Monday.

MRS. TERRY RITA HUDGINS MARSHALL – Age 62, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her father, George Washington Hudgins ;  mother, Alice Lee Walker Hudgins; son, Janssen Alan Marshall; brothers, Gerald Wayne Hudgins, Darryl Zane Hudgins and George Washington Hudgins, Jr. She was employed for many years with Rooms To Go Furniture Company.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, LaToya Camille Marshall, Madison Tiara Marshall; husband, Marty Alan Marshall of Summerville, Georgia; brothers, Anthony (Dawn) Hudgins of Menlo, Georgia; Thomas Hudgins of Summerville, Georgia; John (Chie) Hudgins of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters, Regina Hudgins of Trion, Georgia; Joan (Dennis) Hudgins of Orlando, Florida; Yvonne Hudgins, Mamie (Clay) Hudgins  Carroll of Summersville, Georgia; Sharon (Joseph) Hudgins of Snellville, Georgia; and Jerilyn Hudgins of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Charisma Lindley, Jordan Lindley, Makhila Jaye Marshall, Demetrius Marshall, Chenoia Marshall, Jamari Marshall, Kierra Marshall, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Ms. Tennie Lee Clements White Obit (M)

Ms. Tennie Lee Clements White, age 86, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. White was born July 3, 1930, in Chatsworth, GA, daughter of the late William Chestley and Maggie Estelle Serritt Clements.  She was a member of the South Summerville Church of Christ and was a homemaker.  Tennie was very personable and sociable and never met a stranger.  She loved cooking and sitting on her front porch visiting with friends.  She spent most of her life in Summerville and attended the Summerville School.  Her last years were spent at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation where she was well-liked by the staff and residents.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  In addition to her parents, Ms. White was preceded in death by her son, Michael William White; sister, Eva May Patrick; and brothers, Johnny Clements and Ralph Clements.

Ms. White is survived by her brother, Howard Clements; sister, Imogene C. Underwood; grandchildren, Cindy, April, and Tammie; and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Mary Alice Wilson Whaley Obit (M)

Ms. Mary Alice Wilson Whaley, age 89, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Cherokee County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Centre, AL.

Ms. Whaley was born February 1, 1928, in Tifton, GA, daughter of the late Aden Allen Ross and Stella Doyle Wilson.  She was of the Baptist faith, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Marglen.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Eugene Whaley, Sr.; son, Roy Eugene Whaley, Jr.; and a grandson, Roddy Jones.

Ms. Whaley is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald E. Whaley, Fred and Kathy Whaley, and Phyllis Whaley; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Rodney Jones; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ms. Whaley will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Sunday, February 5, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tracy Nelson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Tyler Dillard, Chad Dillard, Josh Dillard, T. J. Whaley, Orville E. Mrs. Ophelia Gayler, age 92, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Gayler was born February 9, 1924, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late James W. and Lily Maud Long Watkins.  She loved to travel and was a member of the Pennville Church of Christ.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Georgia Rug Mill.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm E. Gayler.

Mrs. Gayler is survived by her son, Tony Gayler; brothers, James Watkins and Fred Watkins; granddaughter, Belle (Link) Baker; and great-grandsons, Brewer Baker and Lawson Baker.

Memorial services for Mrs. Gayler will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, February 4, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Wright officiating.

Mrs. Mary Majors Humphrey, age 67, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at her residence.
Mrs. Humphrey was born February 11, 1949, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late William Edward and Carrie Bryson Majors.  She was a member of the North Summerville Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was a self-employed bookkeeper.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Mac Majors.
Mrs. Humphrey is survived by her husband, Jackie Humphrey; daughter, Renae Humphrey Martin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Maxine Majors, Steve and Donna Majors, and Mary Majors; sister and brothers-in-law, Ann and Bobby Bishop, Wayne Humphrey, and Benny Humphrey; grandchildren, Rachel Martin and Ryan Martin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Humphrey will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, February 3, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Russell and Rev. Miss Shropshire was born September 1, 1953, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Randolph and Emma Ruth Stewart Shropshire. She was a member of the New Spirit and Truth Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Riegel Textiles.
Miss Shropshire is survived by her son, Lasi Tovy Kinte’ Shropshire; daughter, Tameesha Simone Shropshire; brother, Jimmy Ray Shropshire; sisters, Betty Jean (Milton) McDaniel, Jeanette (Grimmet) Glenn, and Aletha Michelle Shropshire.

MR. RICKY TROY FIELDS – Age 58, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was born onSeptember 19, 1958 in Trion, Georgia to the late Thomas and Edith London Fields. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. His sister, Linda London, and brothers, Bobby D. London and Lee London, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two nieces, Donna (Mark) Whitehead of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Melverly Adams of LaFayette, Georgia; great niece, Azaria Whitehead; a host of other close relatives and friends.
