MR. DONNELL DEMETRIUS “OG” JONES – Age 56, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017. Mrs. Dawana Jodie-Lynn Williamson Obit (M)

Mrs. Dawana Jodie-Lynn Williamson, age 58, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Williamson was born June 11, 1958, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of the late Billie and Naomi Lea Moses.  She enjoyed printing, drawing, writing, and embroidering, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Roper.

Mrs. Williamson is survived by her husband, Terry Howard Williamson; sons and daughter-in-law, Dylan and Emily Williamson, Payton Williamson; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Maritza Moses; sisters and brother-in-law, Billie and Reece McRae, Margaret Moses; grandchildren, Hunter Williamson, Lillie Grace Williamson, Caiden Michael Williamson, Serenity Jade Williamson, and Drayden Williamson.

Memorial services for Mrs. Williamson will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 11, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Rutledge officiating.

Willis Bryant (Bill) Smith, Obit (Lakeside)

Willis Bryant (Bill) Smith, 87, passed away March 6, 2017 at Remembrance Village at Riverwood Senior Living Facility.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Victoria Smith, sisters Louise Copeland, Sara Humphries and Myrtle Helms.

 

His is survived by his wife of 59 years, Clara Faye Smith and daughter, Julie Ann Smith and her fiancé, Craig Cornmesser.

 

Bill was born in Cloudland, Georgia.  He graduated from the University of Tennessee where he met and married his wife, Faye, who was from Knoxville.  He was in the Army 22 years where he fought in the Vietnam War.  He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1977.  After teaching ROTC for 10 years, he owned and operated the Trion Golf Club for 5 years.  Throughout the years he also ran a beef cattle farm in Cloudland.  After working his entire life, at age 80, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease which is when he retired.

 

His funeral service will be held at Lakeside Funeral Home in Woodstock, GA on Thursday, March 9th at 12:30 pm.  Prior to that at 11:00 am, the family will be receiving visitors. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with full military honors.

Mr. Jay T. Rich, age 38, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Rich was born October 23, 1978, in Rome, GA, son of Vickie McDonald Rich and the late Freddy Rich.  He was Baptist by faith and had been employed with Maples Enterprise.
Mr. Rich is survived by his daughter, Jayla Sharee Jewell Rich; mother, Vickie Rich; brothers, Billy Joe Rich, Jack Thomas Rich, and Jacob McDonald; and a sister, Vinita Gayle Youngblood.
Funeral services for Mr. Rich will be held at 4:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Skates officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Michael Hall, Cody Campbell, Chase Stoner, Marcus Lee, Lucus Lee, Mark Mason, Josh Bates, and Jeff Edwards.  Honorary pallbearers will be the officers and students of the D.R.C. program.

MRS. CAROLYN S. PRATER, age 52, of West Washington Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, evening in a Rome hospital.  She was born in Summerville, Georgia on January 14, 1965 to the late Grady Robert and Helen Margaret Kilgore Roan.  Mrs. Prater was preceded in death by a brother the late Ronnie Roan.

Surviving are Her husband, Tony Prater; sisters & spouse, Louise & Roger Jenkins, Ft. Payne, Al., Geneva Edwards, and Eva McGraw both of Summerville; brothers & spouses, Donnie & Tammy Roan, Doyle & Gail Roan, Loyle & Ruthie Roan, Zandell & Judy Roan, Alton Roan, and Eddie Lee Roan all of Summerville; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 8th, at the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Ray Caldwell and Rev. Mr. George Clarence “Chip” Lane, Jr., age 56, of Rome, GA, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Lane was born August 8, 1960, in Rome, GA, son of the late George Clarence Lane, Sr., and Betty Ruth Ball Lane.  He was of the Baptist Faith and was co-owner of George’s Kwik Service.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Lane.

Mr. Lane is survived by his wife, Angela Lane; daughters and son-in-law, Tia and Marty Rausch, Robin Lane; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lori and Mike Duncan, Myra Reynolds, Steve Jones, and Bobby Jones; sisters-in-law, Pam Jackson, Carolyn Gill, and Carol Cannon; mother-in-law, Maxine Jones; grandchildren, Maya Rausch and Emma Rausch; and several nieces and nephews.

MS. ELLA ELOISE “WEASE” WEDGEWORTH – Age 72, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017. She was born January 19, 1945 in Perry, Alabama to the late Robert and Mae Ella Wedgeworth. She was a faithful member of West Fifth Street Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her brothers, Matthew Wedgeworth, Harvey Wedgeworth, Fetlan Wedgeworth, Robert Wedgeworth, Jr., L.C. Wedgeworth, Steve Wedgeworth, and Fred Wedgeworth, sister, Ollie Mae Hudsgins, and nieces, Etta Jean Smith and Gretta Wedgeworth.

She is survived by her three brothers, Andrew (Ruby) Wedgeworth, Henry (Christanater) Wedgeworth, and Harry (Susan) Wedgeworth, all of Summerville, Georgia; two adopted children, Marissa Wedgeworth and Bobby Wedgeworth; four grandchildren, Kábron, Kymon, Kaéyon, Zaraji, and Xavier; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

MS. DAISY MAE FIFE – Age 75, of Rome, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017.  She was born on February 17, 1942 to the late Mr. Reuben Williams and Daisy Lee Kincaide Williams. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Williams, Albert Williams, Jimmy Williams, and Emanuel Williams, sister, Lula Mae Davis, two children, Lisa Fife and Ricky Fife, and one grandson, Patrick Fife.

She is survived by two sons, Ben A. (Patricia) Fife of Centre, Alabama and Rodney (Miriam) Fife of Cedartown, Georgia; one daughter, Annette Speights of Summerville, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Vivian Workman of Barnwell, South Carolina; five sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Mary Thurman, Patricia Williams, Bertha (Billy) Johnson, and Helen Williams; two brothers, David Williams of Summerville, and Lee Williams of Louisana; grandchildren, Felicia Hendrix, Erica Fife, Gwen Fife, Tanessa Fife, Ben Fife, Jr. of Centre, Shameika (Jody) Brown of Summerville, Morrio (Dawn) Fife of Dallas, Georgia, Rodneshia Fife of Birmingham, Alabama, Richelle Fife, Ricki Fife, and Ricky Fife, Jr. of Barnwell; twenty-three great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; special friends, Yvonne Etchinson and Sarah Ruth Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

MRS. SARAH RUTH MOSTILLER BENSON – Age 70, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, February 27, 2017. She was born February 17, 1947 in Summerville, Georgia to the late Lee Forrest and Juanita Richardson Mostiller. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and was preceded in death by two brothers, Raulston Mostiller and Earnest Mostiller.
