Miss Patrick Ann Shropshire, age 63, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, January 28, 2017, at her residence.
Miss Shropshire was born September 1, 1953, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Randolph and Emma Ruth Stewart Shropshire. She was a member of the New Spirit and Truth Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Riegel Textiles.
Miss Shropshire is survived by her son, Lasi Tovy Kinte’ Shropshire; daughter, Tameesha Simone Shropshire; brother, Jimmy Ray Shropshire; sisters, Betty Jean (Milton) McDaniel, Jeanette (Grimmet) Glenn, and Aletha Michelle Shropshire.
Funeral services for Miss Shropshire will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 3, 2017, from the New Spirit and Truth Church with Bishop V.T. Harden officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Wallace McClure, Morris Ludy, Elliot Watkins, Johnny M. Price, Cedric Price, and Demettis Cash.  Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Haynes, Duran Shropshire, Raphael Shropshire, Michael McDaniel, Perez Shropshire, Taylor Shropshire, Mark McDaniel, and Marquez McDaniel.  Flower bearers will be Talya Pollard, Nicole Shropshire, Carmen McDaniel, Crystal McDaniel, Aiesha Ashley, and Janel Darden.
Miss Shropshire will be in state at the New Spirit and Truth Church and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Friday.

MR. RICKY TROY FIELDS – Age 58, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was born onSeptember 19, 1958 in Trion, Georgia to the late Thomas and Edith London Fields. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. His sister, Linda London, and brothers, Bobby D. London and Lee London, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two nieces, Donna (Mark) Whitehead of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Melverly Adams of LaFayette, Georgia; great niece, Azaria Whitehead; a host of other close relatives and friends.

Mrs. Faye Nell McDowell Updated Obit (C)

Mrs. Faye Nell McDowell, age 88 of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness.

 

Mrs. McDowell was born in Trion, Georgia on May 31, 1928, daughter of the late Howard Clifton and Louella Saylors Clifton.  She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and prior to retirement was a secretary at E.T. Barwick Mills.  Mrs. McDowell loved to camp and travel with her husband, and was a member of the knitting club.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDowell was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McDowell; a son, Bobby McDowell; and a grandson, Clinton Angles.

 

Mrs. McDowell is survived by her twin daughters and their husbands; Kaye and Jimmy Angles and Faye and Andy Cash; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. McDowell will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Casey Bramlett and Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. William Roger Ware, Updated Obit (Willis)

MR. WILLIAM ROGER WARE – Age 80, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Floyd Medical Center. He was born August 27, 1936 in Cedartown, Georgia to the late George and Edna Woods Ware, Sr. For many years he was employed at Butler Farms Supply Store and his own Lawn Care Service. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Inez Kirby, Lillie Mae Ware, Clara Fleetwood, Carrie Williams, Marie Darden, Ruby Smith and one brother, George Ware, Jr.


He is survived by one sister, Mary Ware, of Summerville, Georgia; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

 

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope U. M. C. located 309 Martin Street, Summerville, Georgia with Pastor Robert Barrett and other ministers officiating. MRS. RUBY CORDLE, age 89, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017, evening in the local nursing home.  She was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late W. W. and Margaret Dobbs Keith on July 20, 1927.  Mrs. Cordle was Baptist by Faith, a retired nurse, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Wesley R. Cordle, daughter, the late Elaine Bennett, brothers, Clyde Keith, Glenn Keith, Melvin Keith, Seldon Keith, and Billy Jack Keith

Surviving are granddaughters and spouses, Troy Pettett Wilson and Kim Wilson and Lea and Charlie Crabtree all of Summerville; Great-granddaughter Bailey Johnston  brothers, W. J. Keith, Troy Keith, Roger Keith, and Boyce Keith; several Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 29th, at 2:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mr. Grady Lee Wells, age 73 of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his residence.

 

Mr. Wells was born in Trion, Georgia on August 15, 1943, son of the late William Grady Wells and Vera Mae Ware Wells.  He was employed as a millwright, working for Millwright Local 1263, in Atlanta for over 25 years.  He loved to fish and spending time at the lake.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Wells was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Lavoy Wells.

 

Mr. Wells is survived by his daughter, Marcy Wells Cooper; brothers, Larry Wells, Danny Wells, and Ronnie Wells; sisters, Barbara Simpson and Charlotte Hollingsworth; grandchildren, Colin Martin, McKenzie Black and Griffin Dobbs; great grandson, Wyatt Martin, a great grandson that is due at any time, Wade Lee Martin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial Services for Mr. Wells will be held Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Helton officiating.  The family will hold a private committal service at a later date.

 

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 5:00 P.M. until the service hour.

Mr. Thomas Hoyt Tucker Obit (C)

Mr. Thomas Hoyt Tucker, age 93, of Summerville, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Tucker was born in Round Mountain, Alabama on December 6, 1923, son of the late David Thomas Tucker and Della Cash Tucker.  He was veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII, and prior to retirement, was an Inspecting Supervisor for the Georgia Rug Mill.  Mr. Tucker was a member of the North Summerville Baptist Church, the Post 129 of the American Legion, the VFW and sons of the American Legion.  He loved to bird hunt, was an avid sports fan and loved to garden.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lyn Tucker; sisters, Willie Dendy and Juanita Tucker; and brothers, Autis Tucker, Carol Tucker, Watt Tucker and Billy Tucker.

Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife, Bonnie Tucker; daughters, Carolyn Tucker and Dawn Bowden; brothers, Jamie Tucker, Leon Tucker and John Tucker; sisters, Frances Norton, Martha Thomas, Ann Brown and Sue Marshall; grandchildren, Joseph Jennings, Misty Blackwell, Renita Bullard, Molly Hughes and Jake Walker; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Tucker will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Russell and Bro. Joel Smith officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Miss Charlene Powell, age 82, of Menlo, GA, died Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Miss Powell was born October 13, 1934, in Chattooga County, GA, daughter of the late Charlie Jackson Powell and Vennice Beatrice Morris Powell.  She was a member of the Menlo Faith Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, served for 33 years as Librarian with the Chattooga County Library System.
Miss Powell is survived by her brothers, Wayne Powell; sisters, Bobbie McRae and Joy Ledford; and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Miss Powell will be held privately.

Mrs. Edith Virginia Jones Hayes, Obit (ER)

MRS. EDITH VIRGINIA JONES HAYES, age 86, of Dawsonville, Georgia, formerly of Trion, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, evening at her residence.  She was born in Trion on January 6, 1931, a daughter of the late Sherllie and Willie Mae Marshall Jones.  Mrs. Hayes is a graduate of Trion High School, a member of the Bice Memorial Baptist Church, and was retired executive reservations specialist for Eastern Airlines. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Alec Hayes on June 16, 2000.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Hayes and David Richardson; son, James M. Hayes all of Dawsonville; granddaughter & spouse, Shannon and David Mayer; great grandchildren Chloe and Lawson Mayer; sister-in-law, Faye Jones; brothers-in-law, Shorty Hawkins and Billy Hayes.

Visitation will be Monday, January 23rd, from 1 until 3 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with burial to follow in Trion Cemetery with Dr. Warren Morehead officiating.

Ms. Margaret Ruth Dentmon, Obit (M)

Ms. Margaret Ruth Dentmon, age 87, of Gaylesville, AL, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at her daughter’s residence.
Ms. Dentmon was born December 18, 1929, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Elliott Judson and Nettie Bryson Huggins.  She was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister-in-law, Pete Huggins, Bob and Jean Huggins; sisters, Lois Johnson, Vinnie Jackson, Peggy Hall, and Nell Craig; and son-in-law, Glenn Hughes.
Ms. Dentmon is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Gail Hughes, Sheliah Dentmon, and Wanda and Aubrey Galloway; grandchildren, Butch and Pam Clark, Daniel and Lacey Hunter, David and Jill Spears, April and Noah Fellers, Jeff Bridges, Sheryl and Ben Norton, Jamie Patterson, Samantha Swartwood, Mollie Mathis, and Brandon Galloway; and a number of great-grandchildren that brought much joy, light, and encouragement to her, especially during the last years of her life.
Funeral services for Ms. Dentmon will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
