Mrs. Gwendolyn Louise Christopher, age 69 of Summerville, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Christopher was born in Gaylesville, Alabama on February 20, 1947, daughter of the late Joe Daniels and Eleanor Dixon Stamper.  She attended the AC Carter High School and held an Associate’s Degree.  She was a member of the West Fifth Street Church of Christ, and prior to retirement she had been employed with Mt. Vernon Mills, Mohawk, the City of Summerville and as a clerk with the Town of Trion.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Christopher was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Adams; Step-father, Gilford Stamper; brothers-in-law, Harold Evans and Jerry Daniels; sister-in-law, Rozell Daniels; cousin, Connie Smith and a nephew, Walter Harold Evans.

Mrs. Christopher is survived by her husband, Freddie Christopher; sons and daughter-in-law, Fitz and Tammy Christopher and Kevin Christopher; daughter, Missy Christopher; sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy Renee Evans and Charlotte and Johnny Allen; sisters-in-law, Suzie Daniels, Brenda Smith and Sara Joyce Daniels; brothers-in-law, Lonnie Christopher, Shirley Daniels, and Nathan Adams; grandchildren, Brittany Christopher, Lorenzo Foster, Tomeko Thompson and Immanni Christopher; great grandchildren, Zorran Christopher and CJ Thompson; God-daughter, Daphne Smith; Special Niece and nephews, Natasha Adams, Bryant Adams and Garrick Evans; Special Friends, Patty Hill, Jan Day, Barbara Madden, Barbara McCutchins and Waymon Blansit; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Christopher will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 2, 2016  in the West Fifth Street Church of Christ with Minister Jessie Bankston and Minister Ronald Cowser officiating.  Interment will follow in the Allgood Cemetery in Trion.

Mrs. Christopher will lie in state at the West Fifth Street Church of Christ where the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will include Friends and Family.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Waydell Howell, Jamey Coffman, Charles Latta, Nolan Crisp, Anthony McWhorter, Steve Black, Eddie Farmer and Robert Daniels.

Ms. Phyllis Hughes, age 67, of Trion, Georgia Friday, September 30, 2016 at her residence.

Ms. Hughes was born in Trion, Georgia on April 30, 1949, daughter of the late Wilburn Kenneth Hughes and Virginia Jo Murphy Hughes.  She was a member of the DAV (Disables American Veterans) and prior to retirement, was employed as a Cloth Inspector with Mt. Vernon Mills.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her brothers, Kevin Hughes, Dennis “Duck” Hughes and Kenneth Hughes.

Ms. Hughes is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Claye Sweatman, and  Heath and Eve Sweatman; a granddaughter, Morgan Sweatman; sisters, Gail Rose and Shirley Hughes; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Ms. Phyllis Hughes will be held Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Minister Berlin Murphy officiating.

Mrs. Mary Louise Bennett Forrester, age 67 of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Residence of her Daughter, Erica Phillips.

Mrs. Forrester was born in Summerville, Georgia on January 8, 1949, daughter of the late William Oscar Bennett and Georgia Ruth Williamson Bennett.  She was a member of the Berryton Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with Armstrong’s Barbeque.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Hank” Forrester.

Mrs. Forrester is survived by a daughter, Erica Phillips; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and April Phillips; brothers and sister-in-law, Billy and Kay Bennett and Jimmy Bennett; sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ricky Sprayberry and Dianne Skelton; grandchildren, Jessica Phillips, Danika Mitchell, Jasmine Phillips, Dakota Finster and Blake Phillips; great grandchildren, Myra Phillips, Kennedy Mitchell and Emsley Mitchell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Forrester will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Skates and Rev. Jake Morrison officiating.  Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Mary Louise Bennett Forrester, age 67, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at her residence of her daughter, Erica Phillips.

Mrs. Nina Ruth Dilbeck Ledford, age 80 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Ledford was born in Lafayette, Georgia on June 8, 1936, daughter of the late James Hilton Cook and Flora Ida Bandy Cook. She was a member of the Living Waters Ministries, and prior to retirement, was employed as Certified Nursing Aide with North Georgia Home Health and was a Private sitter.  She loved to sing Karaoke and was frequently seen on Programming with Channel 6 TV.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ledford was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Dale Dilbeck and Gary Dilbeck; grandson, Chance Lamar Kapinos; sisters, Margaret Ann Walker, Jeannie Dean, Marilyn Ann “Tootie” Day; and brothers, Donald Ennis Cook, Sr., James Milton Cook, David Bowman, and Ricky Barfield.

Mrs. Ledford is survived by her brothers and sister-in-law, Ralph Cook, Chickamauga, Marty and Misty Cook, Lafayette, Bill Cook, Lafayette, Gordon “Bubba” Cook, Lafayette and Johnny Cook, Lafayette; sisters and brother-in-law, Hilda Ann and James Wooten , Lafayette and Roxanne “Sister” and Jimbo Ogle, Ider, Alabama; grandson, Dustin Schrader; special nieces, Flora “Lori” Cook, Kelly Cook and a special nephew, Donald “Jr.”and Sherry Cook; and additional nieces and nephews.

LOUISE TALLENT ALLISON was born May 13, 1929 to the late William Nimrod Tallent and Addie Elizabeth Wester Tallent.  Louise was blessed to be part of a large, loving, farm family from Cherokee County, Alabama.  Having lived to the age of 87, Louise was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Alvin, Cecil, Dewey, Hoyt, and Floyd Tallent, and one sister, Annie Mae Ray, all formerly of Jamestown, Alabama.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Coleman Allison.  

She met Clyde after he returned from serving in WW II.  She always liked a “man in uniform” and the two were married shortly thereafter.  They lived for a time in Menlo, GA while Louise worked in the office of Dr. Lawrence.  After having children, the family moved to Summerville, where Louise has lived for the past sixty-three years. After her children began school, she worked at Best Manufacturing for many years before her retirement.  When Her husband passed away in 1989, she became an energetic walker and made the almost daily hike to Jim’s Restaurant for a “sweet tea and grilled cheese”, her favorite food.  In her spare time, she enjoyed playing the guitar and singing gospel songs.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.  

Louise is survived by her son, Michael E. Allison, a Navy Veteran, a daughter, Darlene A. Baker and son-in-law, Don Baker, whom she loved as a son.  The joy of her life was her only grandson, Derek Baker, of Los Angles, CA.; several Nieces and Nephews also survive as well as longtime childhood friends, Mrs. Frances Pettyjohn, Mrs. Jorene Boyd, Mrs. Sarah Tallent, and Mrs. Thelma Bell.  

Louise died at Redmond Hospital on September 21, 2016 from the ravages of old age complicated by pneumonia.  Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 24th, from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Ministers Berlin Murphy, a cousin, and Robby Eversole, from Pennville Church of Christ, officiating.  She will be buried in a private family ceremony, in the shade of the pines, at Summerville Cemetery, next to her beloved spouse.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 1 P.M. until the hour of service.  In lieu of flowers, the Family asks for your prayers at this difficult time.  Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mary Elliott Jacobs King, died Saturday, September 17 at Floyd Hospital, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late John William King, Jr.

Mrs. King was born in Clinton, South Carolina on April 24, 1922, daughter of the late James Ferdinand Jacobs and Ame Copeland Jacobs. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mrs. Robert F. (Louise) Black and Mrs. William M. (Ame)Shields, and her brother, James Ferdinand Jacobs, Jr.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Presbyterian College and Master of Science degree from the University of Montevallo. She retired from Chattooga County Schools after twenty-nine years of teaching mathematics. Prior to beginning her teaching career, Mrs. King assisted her husband, Bill, in building one of the first dairy farms in Northwest Georgia.
Mrs. King was a member of the Trion Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Previously, she was also a member of the Chattooga Garden Club, the Summerville Music Lovers Club and the Chattooga B& PW.

Surviving are her daughters and spouses, Ms. Betsy King Dellenback,  Mr. & Mrs. Marvin (Mary) Czentnar, and Mr. & Mrs. Malcolm (Lucy) Lee. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and spouses, including James Russell Oxford, Jr.; Mr. & Mrs. John Elliott (Amanda) Oxford; Robert Joseph Dellenback, III; Mr. & Mrs. JJ (Mary Beth) Norris; Mr. & Mrs. Adam (Ellan) Burdick; Mr. & Mrs. David (Jessica) Etheridge; Mr. & Mrs. Matt (Ame) Frease; and Miss Margaret-Elliotte Czentnar along with eleven great-grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held at Mrs. King's home, located at 1770 John Jones Road on Monday, September 19 from 5:00-8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 20 at 4:00 PM with visitation at 3:00 PM.

Mrs. Evelyn Rebecca Walker, age 86 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Walker was born in Trion, Georgia on February 24, 1930, daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Gentry and Winnie Lee Bohannon Gentry.  She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Piedmont, AL and was a former member of the Chelsea Baptist Church.  She retired from the Card Room of Riegel Textile and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Walker; sister, Edith Garner and a son-in-law, Johnny Abernathy.

Mrs. Walker is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Nancy Morgan; daughter, Elaine Abernathy; brother, James Gentry; 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; special niece, Reba Gill; Special Friends, Ray and Iva McDonald; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Walker will be held Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Gill and Rev. Lloyd Gilreath officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. John David Stowe, age 74 of Trion, GA passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Stowe was born in Trion, GA on July 3, 1942.  He was a Hyster Repairmen in the Central Garage of Mount Vernon Mills where he retired in 2015, and attended the Lookout Hall Church of Christ  Mr. Stowe was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Della McWhorter Stowe; sister, Dot Clarke and brother, Jim Stowe.  
   Mr. Stowe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Clements Stowe; sons and their spouses, Lance and Sheila Stowe and Wayne and Tonya Stowe; sister, Sue Anderson; grandchildren, Brandon, Jessica, and Stephanie Stowe; great-grandchildren, Cayden Dodd, Lola and Daniel Stowe; nephews, Mike and Steve Anderson, Jerry Clarke, and Chris Stowe.
   Graveside services will be held Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the  Greenhills Memory Gardens with Minister Brad Hayes officiating.  Interment to follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.

MR. HERMAN LEE “SPANKY” POLLARD, JR. – Age 57, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Before his retirement, Herman was employed for 25 years at Mohawk Industries. He served in the United States Army Reserve and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Price Pollard.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Hudgins Pollard; daughters, Tamara Cameron and Ashley Pollard; sons, Michael Farmer and Allen Wyatt, all of Summerville, Georgia; father, Herman Lee Pollard, Sr.; sister, Marilyn Pollard (Stephen) Jones of Cartersville, Georgia; aunts, Sara Ann Harris, Classie Evans, Linda Morgan and Faye Martin; uncles, Noah Harris, Billy Morgan; brother-in-law, Jarvis (Angela) Hudgins; nephews, Emanuel, Titus, Caleb, Tomareo, and Sigmund White; special cousins, Homer Price, John John Martin, Lopez Evans; a host of other dear cousins and friends.
