Mrs. Oretha Joyce Teems (C)

Mrs. Oretha Joyce Teems, age 80 of Hawkinsville, Georgia, formerly of Summerville, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 in  the Pinewood Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

 

Mrs. Teems was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia on December 13, 1935, daughter of the late John L. Gunter and the former Ellifare Harper. She was a member of the Silver Hill Baptist Church and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Teems loved Flea Markets, always looking for that unique special gift for a family member.  She was an avid reader, loved wildlife, helping people and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Teems was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford White, second husband, Arnold Teems, daughter, Frances G. Brown; a grandchild, Crystal June White and a great grandchild, Audrey Ann White.

 

Mrs. Teems is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lucy and Dave Griffin, sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Felecia White, Randall and Judy White and Herman and Tina White; son-in-law, David Brown and daughter-in-law, Frances White; a brother, James Gunter; sister, Ella Lee Gunter; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside and Interment services for Mrs. Teems will be held Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Silver Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Pickern officiating.

 

Mrs. Teems will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mr. Arthur Bernard “Gundi” Anthony, Obit. (M)

Mr. Arthur Bernard "Gundi" Anthony, age 62, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Anthony was born August 22, 1953, in Summerville, GA, son of the late John and Annette Mosteller Anthony. He was a member of the Pond Springs AME Zion Church.  He retired from Roper at the age of 55 due to health issues.  "Gundi" was a die hard sports fan and he coached and refereed for the Summerville Recreation Center for more than 40 years until failing health forced him to retire.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William F. Anthony and Grady J. Anthony.
Mr. Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Diane Wright Anthony; sons, Brian Anthony and Ryan Anthony; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry "Coffee" and Teresa Anthony, John and Sherry Anthony, Terry Anthony, and Michael Anthony; sisters, Janice Foster and Glenda Hall; grandchildren, Tray Anthony, Kylie Anthony, Mykia Anthony, and Memphys Anthony.  Several loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Anthony will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, July 6, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Anthony Brown officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery. 
Mr. Anthony will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Mr. Tony Faye Dooley, age 58 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in an Atlanta Hospital.

 

Mr. Dooley was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 29, 1957, son of the late J.H. Dooley, Jr. and Maggie Lorine Burnett Dooley.  He was a member of the Perennial Springs Baptist Church and was a self employed Auto Detailer.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Dooley was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Dooley.

 

Mr. Dooley is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Nicholus and Amanda Dooley, and Jason Baker; daughters,  Desiree Dooley and ShannonBaker; Brothers and sister-in-law, Dewayne and Angie Dooley, Terry Dooley, and Jeffery Dooley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda J. and Jr. Jones and Renna and Charles Isham; 6 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Charles Edgar Cook (M)

Mr. Charles Edgar Cook, age 88, of Rome, GA died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Cook was born November 15, 1927, in Rome, GA, son of the late Clarence Edgar and Charlsie McCray Cook.  He was a member of the Garden Lakes Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Bigelow-Sanford.  He was also a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sarah Imogene Scoggins Cook; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald E. and Leslie Cook, Mike and Carolyn Cook; grandchildren, Jeff Cook, Jonathan Cook, Brian Cook, and Lori Adler; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Cook will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 1, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Jeff Cook, Jonathan Cook, Brian Cook, Lori Adler, Ethan Cook, and Caleb Cook.

MR. RONALD MICHAEL (RONNIE) ROAN, age 66, of James Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, June 27, 2016, afternoon in a Rome hospital.  He was born in Arab, Alabama on February 3, 1950, a son o the late Grady and Helen Margaret Kilgore Roan.

Mrs.Sue Key Goodridge Obit (C)

Sue Key Goodridge, age 102, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the  Oakview Health and Rehabilitation, in Summerville, Georgia. 

 

Sue was born in Cloudland, Georgia on February 14, 1914 to William and America Blansit Key. She lived most of her life in Cloudland, GA, with her late husband Bill Goodridge. Sue is preceded in death by a daughter, Billy Sue Williams of Sorrento, FL; five sisters and two brothers.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Jackie K. Wright of Fort Payne, AL,  and Sandra Rae Rowe of Eustis, FL; son, Jerry W. Johnson of Waddley, AL.  Sue had 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren. She had a special love for her dear pets, which included dogs, cats, and a hen.

 

Visitation will be held at Coffman Funeral Home,

Summerville, GA on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 2 PM

to 4 PM, with grave side services at 4:45 PM at AMI Cemetery in Menlo, GA.  Family and friends will have a life celebration at The Lawrence Center, 71 Edison Circle, Menlo GA, following graveside service.

Mr. Hugh Don Tallent, age 70, of Gaylesville, AL, (Rinehart Community) died Monday, June 27, 2016 at his residence.
 
Mr. Tallent was born May 25, 1946 in Fort Payne, AL, the son of Maggie Ray Tallent and the late Cecil Tallent.  He was retired from Mohawk Industries.  He was also a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam.
 
Mr. Tallent is survived by his mother, Maggie Tallent; daughter, Michelle Tallent McCool; son, Donnie Webb; sister, Carol Tallent; brothers, Larry Tallent and Charles “Fuzz” Tallent.
 
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. (EST) Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Berlin Murphy officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Mr. Ricky Lamar Wooten, age 51, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 in Attalla, Alabama.

 

Mr. Wooten was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 2, 1965, son of the late Jimmy Ray Wooten and Barbara Ann Carter.  He was employed as a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Wooten was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Wooten.

 

Mr. Wooten is survived by a son, Jacob Wooten; daughters and son-in-law  Nicole Wooten and Ashley and Jed Walden; brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Melissa Wooten; special aunt Linda Wooten; grandchildren, Brevan Knight, Brooklyn Walden, Slayde Walden, Havin Wooten, Madisyn Wooten and Adilyn Williams and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Wooten will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Bro. Joel Smith and Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery.

MRS. BETTYE EARLE LEE BUSBIN, 87, of Summerville, Georgia went to be with Jesus Christ, previously departed family and friends Wednesday, June 22, 2016, @ Alive Hospice, Nashville, Tennessee.  Mrs. Busbin was born January 12, 1929, the daughter of the late Henry Benjamin Lee & Flora E Nelson Lee.  She and her late husband, James Walter “Buddy” Busbin, were self employed, operating James W. Busbin Contractors, Inc. for 40 years.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.  Mrs. Busbin enjoyed a long and blessed life and passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her children.

        Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Bettye Lee  and Jeffery Finley, Brentwood, TN., Melody Grace and Jimmie Hampton, Nashville, TN., Susan Earle Busbin Hirsch, Marietta; son and daughter-in-law James Walter “Buz” and Elizabeth Pax Busbin, Summerville; grandchildren, David Hirsch, Alison Hirsch, Emily Hirsch, James “Trey” Busbin, III, Olivia Pax Busbin, and Caleb Lee Hampton; foster son, Kenneth Rapier Busbin.
