Mr. William Ivey Brown Obit (Willis)

MR. WILLIAM IVIE BROWN – AGE 76, – Of Summerville, Georgia and formerly of LaFayette, Georgia passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Floyd Medical Center.  He was a retired truck driver of Roadway Express and was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Eugenia Scott Brown, son, Scott L. Brown, parents, Edward Ivie Brown and Callie Mary Marsh Brown, and two brothers, Carter M. Brown and Cecil David Brown.

He is survived by his two daughters, Flecia Brown of Atlanta, Georgia and Fecia Watkins of Summerville, Georgia; four grandchildren,  Candis (Kirk) Brown Davis, Cydni White, Kynsli Watkins, and Bryan Law; two sisters, Patricia E. Allen of Lithonia, Georgia and Virginia B. Harris of Noble, Georgia; three aunts, Clara Marsh, Loraine Marsh of Noble, and Melva Marsh of Chickamauga, Georgia; two uncles, Willie Marsh and Bobby Martin of Summerville; sisters-in-law, Sheraldine (James) Miller of Summerville and Ann Brown of Noble; brother-in-law, Leon Scott, Jr. of Summerville; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at New Home Baptist Church, Noble, Georgia, with Dr. Rev. Donald White and other ministers officiating. Mrs. Ethel Lucille Loggins Pledger, Obit. (M)

Mrs. Ethel Lucille Loggins Pledger, age 89, of Summerville, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Floyd Medical Center.
 
Mrs. Pledger was born May 5, 1927, in Orlando, FL, daughter of the late J. D. and Myrtle Rose Ledbetter.  She was a member of the New Covenant Tabernacle, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Loggins; a daughter, Debbie Robinson; brothers, Gene Ledbetter, Everett Ledbetter; a sister, Nora Belle Davis; and a granddaughter, Heather Loggins.
 
Mrs. Pledger is survived by her husband, Clifford Pledger; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Eddie Shiremean; step-son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Linda Pledger; a brother, Joe Ledbetter; sister, Evelyn Hughes; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Michelle Elrod.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Pledger will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 13, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Pledger officiating and her daughter, Donna Shireman, giving the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Pennville Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Matt Shireman, Jordan Brady, Quinton Yoder, Bayln Stephens, Rylan Robinson, Richard Bailey, Ashton Brady, Landon Yoder, and Haign Stephens.

Mr. Benny Matney Obit (ER)

MR. BENNY MATNEY, age 67, of West Elm Street, Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning at his residence.  A Chattooga County, Georgia native, He was born to the late James and Ethel Mae Murdock Matney on June 13,1948.  Mr. Maney was Baptist by Faith and retired from Defenders @ Mount Vernon.

        Surviving are daughters, Joyce Matney and Katlyn Matney; sons, Cody Matney, Michael Matney, ,Tracey Matney and Stracy Matney; sisters, Kay Hamby, Rachel Ashworth, and Jeannie Matney Robertson; brothers, Ray Cunduff, Jackie Matney, Wayne Matney, and Bubba D. Matney; special friend and care giver, Darlene Youngblood; step mother Cora Lee Matney several Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

Mrs. Carolyn Hawkins Flarity, Obit. (C)

Mrs. Carolyn Hawkins Flarity, age 68 of Mentone, AL passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Flarity was born in Summerville, Georgia on July 13, 1947, daughter of the late Sidney Houston Hawkins and Fannie Estelle Downer Hawkins.  She had been member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flarity was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Flarity; a sister, Linda Holland, brothers, Billy Hawkins, Ernest Hawkins, and Clinton Hawkins; and a great grandson, Conner Liam McGill.

 

Mrs. Flarity is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Starr McGill; daughter, Kayla White; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Farrell Allen; grandchildren, Kandace Trammell, Stephaney Rick, Sid McGill, Savanna McGill, Sophie McGill, Kadin White, Railee White, Gage White and Kailey White; several great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Flarity will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with her son, Mr. Steve McGill and Rev. Tom Russell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Glenn Ervin Hughes, age 77, of Gaylesville, Alabama, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Floyd  Medical Center.

 

Mr. Hughes was born in Jamestown, Alabama on April 21, 1939, son of the late John Taylor Hughes and Sally Lorene Mosley Hughes.  He was a member of the Berryton Church of God, and was a self employed painter.  Mr. Hughes loved cattle farming, fishing, and hunting.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes, was preceded in death by daughter, Ida Cathleen Gamble.

 

Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Gail Dentmon Hughes,  daughters and son-in-law, Cindy Ann and Andy Kellett, Melinda Charleen Hughes and April Lorene Hughes; sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Roxanne Hughes and David and Jill Hughes; brothers and sisters-in-law Harold and Joan Hughes and Danny and Deborah Hughes;  sisters and brothers-in- law Peggy Cox, Linda and Glenn Patterson, and Janie and Larry Kellett; former wife and mother of his children, JoAnn Hughes; 10  grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and good friend Odis Grogan.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Hughes will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Cox  and Rev. Gary Howell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mount Bethel Cemetery.

on April 15, 1939.  He was retired from the Roper

Corporation and was Baptist by faith.

 

Mr. Dover was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy

Wallin Dover; father and mother, Tiny Glenn and

Georgia A. Payne Dover; sister, Nell Bryan; brothers,

Earl, Marion, and Aaron Dover.

  

Mr. Dover is survived by daughters and sons-in-law,

Debbie and Waydell Howell, Patti and Steve Henderson,

Mr. Bobby Randall “Randy” Fowler (C)

Mr. Bobby Randall “Randy” Fowler, age 56 of Armuchee, GA, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Floyd Medical Center.

 

Mr. Fowler was born in Rome, Georgia on December 15, 1959, son of Sheila Cargle White and the late Grady B. Fowler.  He was a loving, caring and Christian person who never let his disability slow him down. Randy lived a fulfilling and independent life that included: being in the first graduating class for special needs students at Huron High School in 1981, being a member of Armuchee Baptist Church, attending rodeos, listening to country music while strumming along on his guitar, working at RCW for 25 years, and working on the work crew at Network Day Service Center for 5 years. Randy was known as “Cowboy Randy” and was always seen in his blue jeans, chambray shirt, rodeo belt buckle, cowboy boots, and cowboy hat. His smile and personality would light up a room, and he never met a stranger. Randy was an inspiration and blessing to everyone he met and he made the world a better place for the short time we were blessed with him.  In addition to his father, Randy was preceded in death by a brother, Eric Fowler; maternal grandparents, Griffin and Vivian Cargle, paternal grandparents, John and Hazel Fowler and his step grandparents, Rev. A.N. and Linda White.

 

Mr. Fowler is survived by his mother and step-father, Sheila and J.C. White; brothers, Gil Fowler, Sammy White, and Kevin White; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Fowler will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. in the Armuchee Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Skelton and Rev. Jimmy Cargle officiating.  Interment will follow in the Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr.  Dave Lee Roach, age 72, of Lyerly, GA, died Friday, May 6, 2016, at Floyd Medical Center.
 
Mr. Roach was born November 18, 1943, son of the late John Franklin and Iokeau Mountain Roach.  He was a member of the Old Path Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mohawk.  He also owned and operated Dave's Lawn Care.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Buck Roach; and a sister, Mary Lou West.
 
Mr. Roach is survived by his wife, JoAnn Pettyjohn Roach; daughters and son-in-law, Shawna Gilliland, Amber Roach and Brad Dillard; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Barbara Roach; sisters and brother-in-law, Sherry Williamson, Debbie and Robert Elrod; grandchildren, Mason Gilliland, McKenzie Gilliland, Braden Dillard, and Katie Dillard.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Roach will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, May 9, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Waydell Howell, Rev. Sanford DeBerry, and Rev. Mr. Davis Lee McDaniel, Obit. (M)

Mr. Davis Lee McDaniel, age 69, of Summerville, GA died
Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Floyd Medical Center.
 
Mr. McDaniel was born October 21, 1946 in Trion, GA, the
son of the late Earl James McDaniel and Winnie Lee Crouch
McDaniel.  He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a
member of Pennville Missionary Alliance Church. He loved
working with children at church, reading Louis L’Amour books,
old westerns, and fishing.  He was someone that loved people
and had such a loving and giving spirit.  He enjoyed giving
donuts, candy, and other gifts to those he worked with and to
those that cared for him.  He loved Halloween and Christmas,
because he could buy gifts and candy for all the children that
filled his life with so much joy.  He will be missed by all that
knew him and loved him for his wonderful laugh and for a heart
that was big enough to love everyone.
 
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother,
Bobby McDaniel; a brother-in-law, David Elliott; grandparents,
Norman and Nora Crouch, Annie and Bob McDaniel; sister-in-law,
Mary McDaniel; and beloved daughter, Regina Eubanks.
 
Mr. McDaniel is survived by his step-mother, Nancy McDaniel;
sisters and brother-in-law, Earlene Elliott, and Sue and Phillip
Murphy; brothers and sister-in-law, Tim and Karen McDaniel,
and Tony McDaniel; sister-in-law, Sheryl McDaniel; his special
children, Donnie and Betty Cordle, Ronnie and Kathy Cordle,
Matt Eubanks, Tammy Huffman and Brenda Wofford Martin;
grandchildren, Donnie Ray (Kellie) Cordle, Jennifer (James)
Rutledge, and Amanda (Chris) Key, Leigha Cannon, Megan
Vannatter, and Emily Parker; 14 Great Grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews; and many more children that he love and
considered his own.
 
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. on Monday, May
9, 2016 at the Pennville Missionary Alliance Church, with burial
to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Carlos Martinez and
Rev. Charles Izell will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Nephews.
 
Mr. McDaniel will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the
family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Sunday,
May 8, 2016.  He will also lie in state at the church  from 2:00
until 3:00 p. m. on Monday.

Heyman Hospice and to all that did such a great job of caring for
him.

Mrs. Doris Ann Howard, age 73, of Rome, GA, died Monday, May 2, 2016, at her residence.
 
Mrs. Howard was born June 18, 1942, in Rome, GA, daughter of the late James Watson and Mattie Sims Watson.  She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Howard; and a sister, Gladys Couch.
 
Mrs. Howard is survived by her sons, Lamar Howard, John Howard; daughter, Debra Hawthorne; step-son, Steven Howard; a brother, James Watson; sisters, Jeanette Robinson and Shirley Peal; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
 
Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Howard will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, May 6, 2016, from the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Joe Dodd officiating.  Pallbearers will be Sean Howard, Greg Smith, Merle Camp, Andrew Howard, Fred Vinyard, Jr.  Jeremy Howard will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
