Mrs, Sylvia Dianne Gazaway, Obit. (C)

Mrs. Sylvia Dianne Gazaway, age 59 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Floyd Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Gazaway was born in Centre, AL on May 20, 1957, daughter of Mrs. Eva Jo LuAllen Pierce and the late Bernie Pierce.  She was a homemaker and loved working in the yard and flower gardens.  In addition to her father, Mrs. Gazaway was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Lee and a brother, Bernie Lee Pierce.

 

Mrs. Gazaway is survived by her companion, Tommy May; daughters, Stephanie Ann Rosser and Christy Michelle Gazaway; mother, Eva Jo Pierce; sister, Kathy Carlene Pierce; brothers, Robert Lloyd Pierce and James Allen Pierce; grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Causey, Nathan Lee Rosser, Seth Dakota Slater, Shakia Breanna Gazaway, Aubrey Cheyanne Smith; great grandchildren, Areyla Estrella Mosqueda, Deklin Ryder Rosser and the Mystery Baby; nieces and nephew, Rebecca Lynn Ables, Joshua William Ables, Chloe Alexis Ables and Layle Alexis Lee; and special friends, Kathy Terry and Lynn Pierce.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gazaway will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the May Family Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Rocky Hatfield, Nathan Lee Rosser, Jonathan Henry Rosser, Joshua Ables, Christopher Pierce and Bobby Jones.

Mr. Ralph Thomas, age 79, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at his residence.
 
Mr. Thomas was born January 22, 1937, in Trion, GA, son of the late Archie Henry and Maggie May Grimes Thomas.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, and prior to his retirement, he served as president of Fort McClellan Credit Union.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman Thomas and Glen Thomas; and sisters, Katie Thomas Ledbetter Thomas and Iva Nell Thomas Williams.
 
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Patsy J. Thomas; sons and daughter-in-law, Alex Thomas, Todd and Angie Thomas; a daughter and son-in-law, Faith and Brian Robinson; brother, James Thomas; sister, Bonnie Thomas Fleming ; grandchildren, Joy and Chris Youngman, John and Stacey Robinson, Callie Thomas, and Cole Thomas; and great-grandchild, Jackson Robinson.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Robinson and Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Cole Thomas, Scott Thomas, Mark Searles, Trey Skelton, John Robinson,  Chris Youngman, and Doug Farmer.  Alex Thomas will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Dorothy Louise “Dot” Simmons, Obit. (M)

Mrs. Dorothy Louise "Dot" Simmons, age 78, of Summerville, GA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mrs. Simmons was born April 23, 1938, in Cloudland, GA, daughter of the late Paul Edward Shaver and Violet Argenia Deering Shaver Haney.  She was a member of the West Summerville Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, worked as a Medical Office Assistant.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester G. "Yankee" Jones; second husband, Willie Ralph Cooper; third husband, James Wesley Simmons; brother, Jerry Shaver; and a grandson, William James Simmons.
 
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Annette Jones, Jody Simmons, Charles and Michelle Simmons; daughters and sons-in-law, Esther and Danny Wilcox, Cynthia and David Westbrooks, Jamie and Ralph Eskew, Amie Simmons; brothers, Bobby Shaver and Wayne Shaver; a sister, Mary Elicker; sister-in-law, Dee Shaver; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Simmons will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 12, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lavon Humphreys and Rev. Mickey Skates officiating.  Interment will follow in the AMI Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Raymond Jones, Jr., Joshua Wilcox, Bailee Jones, Jacob Woodard, Chad Barnes, and Michael Gann.  Honorary pallbearers will be the members of West Summerville Baptist Church, and her good friend and neighbor, Terry Bryant.

William Clark “Dub” Barnes, Sr., 87, retired owner and operator of Barnes Carpet Service for over thirty years and resident of Pickens Lane, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

 

            Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with his grandson Rev. Andy Hargrove officiating.  A graveside service will be held Saturday at 4:00 P.M. EST at West Hill Cemetery in Trion, Georgia.  The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols.

            Born March 11, 1929, in Trion, Georgia, he was the son of the late William Frank Barnes and Madeline Ruby Henderson Barnes. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed quail hunting, raising bird dogs, growing vegetables, boating, and fishing. 

 

            Survivors include his children, Frankie (Sam) Noles of Ringgold, Georgia; Johnnie (Art) Hargrove of Huntsville, Alabama; William Clark “Billy” (Matilda) Barnes, Jr. of Memphis; Reneé (Bryan) Haynes and Belinda Beard, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Ashley Noles, Rev. Andy (Christine) Hargrove, Sarah (Courtney) Mitchell, Elizabeth (Chris) Miller, Brandy Barnes, Peyton Barnes, Addison Barnes, William Donald “Buddy” Haynes, Matthew Beard; and eight great grandchildren.

 

            He was preceded in death by a grandson, Julius “Sonny” Suits; and siblings, Haynie Lou Starkey, Bill Barnes, Joyce Price, and Joan Crowe.

 

            Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

MR. VICTOR PETTETT, JR., age 66, of Trion, Georgia passed away Monday evening in a Chattanooga hospital.  A native Chattooga Countian, He was born July 9, 1949 to the late Victor Marion Pettett, Sr. and the late Mildred Styles Pettett.  Mr. Pettett was a member of Trion First Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of Viet Nam, and an electrician, member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #175, and proud Boardmember of River City Corvette Club of Hixson, Tennessee.

        Surviving are His wife, Cindy Pettett; children & spouses, Tory Pettett Wilson & Kim Wilson, Lea & Charlie Crabtree, Wes & April Chisolm, Zack Pettett, Kerianna Pettett; grandchildren, Baily Johnston, Cierra & Tanner Chisolm; sisters & brothers-in-law, Nancy Lively, Kitty & Bruce Davies & Joye & Donnie Peppers; several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

MRS. LAURA H. DEAN, age 73, of Dry Valley Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016, afternoon at her residence, following an illness.  Born on December 7, 1942, She was a daughter of the late O’dell and Nellie Shaw LeMaster.  Mrs. Dean was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Jerry Dean.

        Surviving are sons and daughter-in-law, David Dean and Michael (Mike) and Stacy Dean; grandchildren, She’rie Taylor, Samantha Ledford, Rachel Dean, Matthew Dean, and Ethan Dean; great grandchildren, Elena Ledford and Kristerfer Hoodlet; sister, Jane LeMaster; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Laney and Debbie Dean; several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins; and a host of Special Friends also survive.

MR. AUGUSTUS LLOYD MOSLEY – Age 87,

of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Saturday,

June 4, 2016 at the Mt. Berry Hospice Facility.

He was retired from G.E. of Rome, Georgia, was

a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, and was

preceded in death by his parents, Charles

Mosley and Jessie Salmon Mosley.

 

He is survived by his five children, Maxine West

of Summerville, Georgia, Retired Command

Sgt. Major Walter (Susan) Mosley of Fircrest,

Washington, Dr. Patricia M. Harris of Savannah,

Georgia, Minister Melvin (Betty) Mosley of

Summerville, and Yulanda Davis of Dallas,

a sister Vernell Shropshire of LaFayette, 

Georgia; nine grandchildren; nine great

Ms. Chisolm was born May 15, 1958  in Trion, GA to the late Joe and Verna Galloway. She was employed by Mike Galloway Insulation and was of the Seven Day Adventist faith. She is preceded in death by 2 brothers; Charles Edward and Jerry Wayne Galloway.
Ms. Chisolm is survived by her son; Alan Korel Adams, daughter; Tara Dawn Adams, 2 brothers; Roger Galloway and Danny (Andrea) Galloway, 3 sisters; Katherine (Bobby) McCarty, Barbara Gill, And Sandra Timmons, granddaughter; Jada Faith Hennon, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mrs. Williamson was born November 25, 1938, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of Ruben Thomas and Laura Gamble McCary. She was a home maker, and preceded in death by a sister, Ann Fordham, brothers, Gene McCary, Henry McCary, L.D. McCary, R.C. McCary.
Survivors include her children, Roger Terry and Constance Ann Allison…, Michele and Kurt Boehnke, grandchild, Leslie Ann Allison and Christopher Tapley, sisters, Mary Garrard, Iva McCary, Lois Winters, Dot Robertson, several nieces and nephews also survive Mrs. Paula McCary Williamson.

Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday June 8, 2016, from the Summerville Cemetery.
