Mrs. Rose Ray Carter, age 85 of Trion, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, April 05, 2016 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Stanley Gerard “Pete” Rounsaville, Obit. (M)

Mr. Stanley Gerard  “Pete” Rounsaville, age 49, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday April 1, 2016, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Rounsaville was born July 6, 1966, in Summerville, GA, the son of Clifford Hugh Rounsaville and the late Mary Ellen Smith Rounsaville.  He was employed with the Chattooga County  School System, where he was a bus driver and worked as a custodian  at the Lyerly School.  He was a member of the West 5th Street Church of Christ.
 
Survivors include his wife,  Tonia Shea Gilreath Rounsaville, and his father, Clifford Hugh Rounsaville.
 
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 5, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Lewis officiating, interment in the Summerville Cemetery.  Active  pallbearers, Mitch Bridges, Andre Groce, Dee Mosteller, Adam Smith, Andre Stewart, Kenneth Tubbs, Honorary pallbearers, Men of the West 5th Street Church of Christ.
Mr. Rounsaville will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday April 4, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Bence Willis Godfrey Obit (M)

Mr. Bence Willis Godfrey, age 33, of Menlo, GA, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Godfrey was born March 25, 1983, in East Ridge, TN, son of John Willis Godfrey and Pamela Lorretta Rose.  He was employed with Auto Custom Carpet.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Willis Godfrey, Sr., and his grandmother, Nellie Mae Godfrey.

Mr. Godfrey is survived by his companion, Jessie Painter; son, Drake Willis Godfrey; daughter, Kayle Brook Godfrey; and half-sister, Amanda Rose.

Memorial services for Mr. Godfrey will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, April 4, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Monday.

Mr. Gerald Randall “Randy” Toles Obit (Henderson)

  Mr. Gerald Randall "Randy" Toles, age 67, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at a local hospital.

            Mr. Toles was born in Floyd County, Georgia on July 28, 1948, son of the late Curtis Doyle Toles and the late Dorothy Doster Toles.  He was a graduate of Chattooga County High School and Berry College where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Agriculture.  Mr. Toles was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War.  He was employed as an inspector with the Georgia Department of Agriculture.  Mr. Toles was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gore and the American Legion Post #5.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the National Wildlife and Turkey Foundation.

            Survivors include his wife, Patsy Stokes Toles; two step-sons, James Webb and his wife, Tiffany, Kennesaw, and Shane Stokes and his wife, Erin, Rome; three grandchildren, Hunter Stokes, Chayce Stokes and James Webb; a sister, Kathy Bowen and her husband, Randy, Summerville; a brother, Doster Toles and his wife, Cathy, Summerville; an uncle, Wayne Toles, Rome; several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Glenn Clonts officiating and Mrs. Michelle Arp delivering the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.

            The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Saturday from 12:30pm until the service time.  At other hours, they will be at the residence.

One of Chattooga County’s best has passed away.  WILLIAM PENN SELMAN, JR., farmer, real estate leader, civic champion, beloved husband, father, and friend died Wednesday, March 30, 2016. A Chattoogan all His life, born on September 19, 1928, was a son of the late William Penn Selman, Sr. and Mary Thompson Selman.  He attended Summerville Elementary School, McCallie High School in Chattanooga, TN., and graduated from the University of Georgia. 

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia M. Selman; 4 sons, William Penn Selman, III & wife Anna of Rock Springs, WY, Tom Hill Selman, II & wife Juanita of Midland, TX, Charles M. Selman & wife Maggie of Marietta, GA, and John Penn Selman & wife Dobronya of Cumming, GA; also are 6 grandchildren, Wm. P. Selman, IV of Atlanta, GA, Tom Hill Selman of Midland, TX, Charles M. Selman, Jr. of Marietta, GA, Brittany Selman of Cumming, GA, Alisa A. Erkes of Smyrna, and 3 great grandchildren, Ellie Selman, Midland, TX, Penn Selman, V, and Payton Selman, Atlanta.
        
A memorial celebration of His life, conducted by Rev. Lee Humphreys, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 2, 2016 in the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church; with visitation from 10 A.M. until the time of service.  Pallbearers Tommy H. Mr. James Theron “Plywood” Earwood, Obit. (C)

Mr. James Theron “Plywood” Earwood, age 71 of the Mountain View Community in Trion, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Mr. Earwood was born in Calhoun, Georgia on September 12, 1944, son of the late James Esker Earwood and Sue Elrod Earwood.  He was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed in many areas including working in an auto body shop and most recently, was a truck driver for A&B Concrete.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Earwood was preceded in death by his step-father, Floyd Carroll and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Thelma Biddle.

 

Mr. Earwood is survived by his wife, Othell Biddle Earwood; step-brother, Danny Carroll; step-sister, Charlotte Jackson; brother-in-law, Rickey Biddle; special cousin, Leon Earwood; and a number of additional cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Earwood will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Norton and Rev. Rickey Biddle officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Justin Stowe, Jamie Biddle, Ryan Willingham, Nathan Floyd, Steve Willingham, and Sandy Willingham.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Darwin Blansit, Jesse Blansit, Gary Howell and Steve Waddell, as well as all of Mr. Earwood’s past co-workers.

Mr. Jerry Aldridge, age 65, of Cloudland, GA died Monday, March 28, 2016
at Memorial Hospital.
 
Mr. Aldridge was born July 9, 1950 in Blackshear, GA, the son of the late
Isom Manning Aldridge and Rilla Barbara Crawford Aldridge.  He was
employed with Mt. Vernon Mills.  Mr. Aldridge was a member of New
Beginning Bible Church.  He was a veteran of the United States Marines,
where he had served in Vietnam.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in
death by brothers, Harvey Aldridge and R. I. Aldridge.
 
Survivors include his wife, Sara Aldridge; sons, Jerry Bryan Aldridge, Jason
Kelly Aldridge, and James Stacy Aldridge; brothers, J. B. Aldridge and Earl
Aldridge; sisters, Margaret Champion, Loraine Higginbothem, Betty Turner,
Helen Dixon, Lillian Aldridge, Terry Francis, and Barbara Bell; 8 Grandchildren;
and 7 Great-Grandchildren.
 
Funeral service for Mr. Aldridge will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, March 30,
2016 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Dunwoody officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Michael

Mrs. Dixie Lou Sanford Messer Obit (M)

Mrs. Dixie Lou Sanford Messer, age 85, of Cedar Bluff, AL, died Monday, March 28, 2016, at her residence.
 
Mrs. Messer was born September 2, 1930, in Round Mountain, AL, daughter of the late Cicero Decatur Sanford and Minnie Rena Ward Sanford.  She was a member of the Barrett's Chapel Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed as a supervisor at Centre Manufacturing where she worked for 44 years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Messer; brothers, Leo Sanford and Carl Sanford; a sister, Virginia Rutledge; and grandson-in-law, Bill Bare.
 
Mrs. Messer is survived by her daughters, Shelia Hurley and Cindia Messer Peoples; brothers, D.C. Sanford and Sam Sanford; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Messer will be held at 5:30 P.M. (E.S.T.) Wednesday, March 30, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Bishop officiating.  Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Collier Peoples, Patrick Bobo, Paul Peace, Danny Bare, Rob E. Mr. Robert "Bobby" Womble, Jr. – Age 80, of Summerville, Georgia and formerly

of Lafayette, Georgia passed away Friday, March 25, 2016. He was preceded

in death by his parents, Rev. Robert Womble, Sr. and Julia Mae Womble

Stalling, brother, Thomas Womble, and sisters, Louise Womble and Joyce Jones. 

 

He is survived by his two sons, Joey Womble of Dalton, GA and Mark Womble of

Atlanta, GA; daughter, Lecia Gail Womble; stepdaughter, Marketia (Greg) Adams

Mrs. Margaret Inez Millican obit (Wilson)

Margaret Inez Millican, 87, of Fort Payne, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at her home. She was born August 19, 1928 to the late Charlie and Tinney Bell Henderson Wilson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Baptist Church with burial following in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4 until 7p.m at the funeral home and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the 2 p.m. hour of service at the church.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John Henry and Judy Jenkins, Charles Franklin and Doris Jenkins, and David and Susie Jenkins; daughters and sons-in-law, Margie Helton and Tom Lawton and Stella and Robert Kilgore; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, June Elizabeth Stinnett and son, Robert Grady Jenkins.
