Mrs. Margaret Ann Emory, age 93, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Emory was born in Chattooga County on July 25, 1922, daughter of the late Arthur Hartline and Ethel Ashe Hartline.  She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with Riegel Textile and the Cafeteria of Trion City Schools.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Emory was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Earl Emory; daughter, Teresa Emory; son, Timothy Earl Emory, and a brother, Orbin Hartline.

Mrs. Emory is survived by a nephew and his wife, Mark and Lorraine Hartline; great nieces, Erica and Chris Earwood and Elizabeth and Brian West; and 7 great great nieces and nephews.

Graveside and Interment services for Mrs. Emory will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the family lot of West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Casey Bramlett officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dickie Anderson, William Henderson, Leo Lanier, Gary Kennedy, Vernon Johnson, Dr. Gary Smith, Lee Smith, Marty Sweatman and Casey Brown.

At the request of Mrs. Emory, there will be no visitation, and the family respectfully asks that flowers not be sent.

Those attending the Graveside service for Mrs. Emory are asked to assemble at the West Hill Cemetery at 1:45 P.M. Wednesday.

Kenneth Hugh "Strick" Strickland, age 70, of Summerville, GA, took his first step into Heaven on Friday, April 15, 2016.

 Mr. Strickland was born March 10, 1946, in Marianna, FL, the third child of the late Frank and Eula Strickland.  Ken was the brother of Kelly Strickland, now deceased, of Tallahasee, FL. 

 Strick" attained the rank of E5 in the U.S. Army, having served in Korea during the Vietnam era.  After returning home from Korea to Fort Myers, FL, he and his wife started attending Emmanuel Baptist Church.  It was there that he came to see his need for a Savior and accepted Christ into his life and heart. He was active in the church choir and started the bus ministry there.  In 1973, he came to Tennessee Temple Bible School and University, earning a Graduate of Theology degree and a Bachelor of Science degree.  While attending Highland Park Church under Dr. Lee Roberson, he was one of their bus captains.

 After graduation, he taught history and science for a while and then felt led to get certified as a Drug Rehabilitation Counselor.  His kindness and compassion and yet firm professional personality allowed him to fulfill this role.  He also served as Staff and Client Chaplain during his 11 years as a counselor at a clinic in North Georgia.  Ken was a lover of God's creation and all His creatures, especially the birds.  He was frequently found in his wood working shop working on the latest design of a bird house that he would create to give to someone "special."

 He was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church at Harrison, TN for close to 30 years.  While there, he served as Training Union Director and member of the choir until moving to Summerville, GA.  There, he and his wife became charter members of the New Haven Baptist Church.  He was a member of the choir and served on the missionary committee until his illness prevented him from doing so.  He was a man that was known for his prayers and his love for his wife and two sons, Andrew and Daniel.  He brought honor to his God, his country, and his family.

 Kenneth is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dedra Strickland; two sons, Kenneth Andrew Strickland and Daniel Hugh Strickland, both of Chattanooga, TN; a sister, Joan Day, of Thomasville, GA; and one grandchild, KaeDee Joy Alayna Strickland.

 Funeral services for Mr. Strickland will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 17, 2016, from the New Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Madaris officiating.  Pallbearers will be James Evans, Bob Josephson, Mike Gaskin, Clyde Henry, and Blake Hughes.  Interment will be held at 10:30 A.M.

 Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

 Mr. Strickland will be in state at New Haven Baptist Church and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday.

Curtis Owen “Butch” Austin, age 58 of Summerville, GA  passed away Wedmesday, April 13, 2016 in Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Austin was born in Owensboro, KY. He had been a Correctional Officer at Hays State Prison. Mr. Austin loved to hunt, loved GA Bulldogs Football, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church, North American Hunting Club, and Pigeon Mountain Archery Club

Mr. Austin was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Austin; his mother, Christine Strange; and his brother, George Sharp.

Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Debbie Austin; sons, Kevin (Robin) Austin and Scott (Sherolyn) Austin; step-son, Jeffery (Krista) Hill; step-daughters, Jessica (Shawn) Allmon and Heather Hill; brothers, Rob Ponder, Wayne Campbell, and Cell Ramey; grandchildren, Travis and Brad Bullard, Devin Allmon Hunter, Kayla Hollingsworth, Haley and Blake Austin, and Aaron Hill.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from the New Beginnings Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Johnson and Rev. Joel Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Mr. Dewayne Bates, age 59 of Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2016 in Floyd Medical Center. Mr. Bates was born September 13, 1956 in Summerville, GA. He was Baptist by faith and he loved to fish.

Mr. Bates was preceded in death by his father, Miles Laverne Bates, and his grandparents, James C. and Mildred Mitchell and Dover and Elizabeth Watwood.

Mr. Bates is survived by his mother, Sue Mitchell Barosay; sister, Debbie Berry; brother, Dale (Tammy) Bates; nieces and nephew, Dana (Will) Stewart, Bridgett Berry, Brittney (Michael) Nicholson, Lacey and Brett Jackson; aunts, uncles, cousins.

MRS. CAROLYN LOUISE FARMER BRADLEY – Age 69, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. She was a member of West Fifth Street Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Lee Gober Farmer, three sisters, Margaret Farmer, Mae Christopher, and Ossie Bell Wheeler, and two brothers, Lewis Farmer and Frank Farmer.

She was survived by her three children, son, Eddie Farmer of Summerville, Georgia; daughters, Carol Ann Bradley and Rachelle (William) Johnson of Rome, Georgia; two brothers, Larry Farmer of Summerville and Jimmy Dorsey of New York; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at West Fifth Street Church of Christ with Bro. L.D. Ludy, Eulogist, Bro. John Lewis, and other ministers officiating. Mrs. Frances E. Brown, age 53, of the Silver Hill Community, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Floyd Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mrs. Brown was born in Ocilla, Georgia on May 6, 1962, daughter of Joyce Oretha Gunter Teems and the late Charles White.  She was a homemaker and loved to go to Flea Markets.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford White and her step-father, Arnold Teems.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, David Brown; sons, Dakota Brown and Charles Brown (Megan); mother, Joyce Teems; brothers, Raymond White, Randall White and Herman White; sister, Lucy Griffin; grandchildren, Brandon Lee Brown, Brandon Ray Brown and Branson Eli Brown; special friends, Becky Dawson and Whitney Culberson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Martha Mozelle Willingham, age 92, of Menlo, GA, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed from this earth into her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at the home of her daughter, Betty Marshall, in Madison, AL.

 Mrs. Willingham was born December 13, 1923, to the late Charlie Crye and Venice Mosley Crye.  She was retired from Best Manufacturing.  Mrs. Willingham was the oldest member of Chelsea Baptist Church and was a lifetime resident of the Chelsea Community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John "J.H." Willingham; son, Connie Willingham; two daughters, Shirley McCrickard and Jean McGraw.

 Mrs. Willingham is survived by two of her five children, daughter and son-in-law, Betty and John Marshall; son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Sue Willingham; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Doris, Nell, Robbie, Rosa, and Evelyn.

Mrs. Margaret Louise Shigley Crowe, age 100, of Rome, GA, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Floyd Medical Center.

 Mrs. Crowe was born May 5, 1915, in Mentone, AL, daughter of the late Henry Frank and Rebecca Melissa Keith Shigley.  She was a member of the Pennville Alliance Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed as a teacher with the Chattooga County School System. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Washington Crowe; a daughter, Wanda Crowe; 2 brothers; 9 sisters; and a granddaughter, Shannon Michelle Waters.

 Mrs. Crowe is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Crowe; daughters and sons-in-law, Evangeline and Bob Gober, Charlotte and Bob Chambers, Marie and Jack Noah; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

 Funeral services for Mrs. Crowe will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 10, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Gober and Rev. Stephen Gober officiating.  Interment will follow in the Pennville Alliance Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

 Mrs. Crowe will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday.
