Mrs. Lisa Annette Bearden (M)

Mrs. Lisa Annette Bearden, age 56, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday April 24, 2015, in Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Bearden was born Sept. 4, 1958, the daughter of Betty Jo Payne Smith and the late Rev. Johnny Smith.  She was a loving wife, devoted mother and the best grandmother.  She loved to sing, and was a great singer herself,  had a great sense of humor and enjoyed all her friends on Facebook.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Bearden, mother, Betty Smith, children, Josuha Dodson, Jonathan Dodson, Amanda Dodson, brothers, Gary Smith, Phil Smith, sister, Vickie L. McWhorter, grandchildren, Garrison Ray Dodson, Paisley Ace Dodson, Ryder Gage Dupree.

Funeral service will be held 12 noon Monday April 27, 2015 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rickey Biddle and Bro. Ralph McWhorter officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers, Chris Smith, Marty Smith, Jason McWhorter, David Evans, Dalton Bearden, Stanley Shaffers, William McWhorter, Greg Bearden.   Honorary pallbearers, Leroy Luallen, David Christopher and all other Redmond EMT’S.

Mr. Wallace Frank “Shorty” Thomas, JR. Obit (C)

Mr. Wallace Frank “Shorty” Thomas, Jr., age 82 of Trion, GA passed away Tuesday April 21, 2015 in Chattanooga, TN. Mr. Thomas was born August 19, 1932 in Lyerly, GA. He was a self-employed truck driver, enjoyed farming, and Trade Day.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Thomas; infant son, Wallace F. Thomas, III; grandchild, Michael Shane Hampton; sisters, Esma Ramirez, Marie Hasty, Ann Hammonds, and Gris Trammell; brother, Durham Thomas.

Mr. Thomas is survived by sons, Barry Thomas and his companion, Lisa of Orlando, FL and Frankie Thomas and his wife, Terri of Trion, GA; daughters, Wendy Thomas Ash of Summerville, GA and Sherry Thomas Hampton of Trion, GA; grandchildren, Tristan Ash, Caden Ash, Jessie Ash, Levi Thomas, Autumn Thomas, Keith Thomas, B. J. “Jake” Thomas, Dameon Ingram, and Stephanie Shirley; great-grandchildren, Dylan Shirley, Kara Watkins, and Malikah Thomas; special friend, Angie Thompson; niece and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Petitt Chapel of Coffman Funeral Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Deering Obit (M)

Mrs. Mary Ellen Deering, age 90, of Cloudland, GA, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Deering was born July 18, 1924, in LaFayette, GA, daughter of the late Amos Garrett and Annie Dunn Greene.  She was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon William Deering; a son, Gordon William Deering, Jr.; brothers, George Edward Greene, Amos Jerry Greene, and Johnny Greene.

Mrs. Deering is survived by her son and daughters-in-law, Paul Thomas and Mandie Deering, Opal Lee Deering; a sister, Betty Elizabeth Holbrook; grandchildren, Christie Lee Dooley and Matt Dooley, Kerrington Wagner, Dilan Deering, and Andria Deering; great-grandchildren, Kevin Dooley and Nathan Dooley; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Deering will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 24, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mr. Nicholas Shropshire Obit (M)

Mr. Nicholas Shropshire, age 41, of Summerville, GA died Saturday, April 18, 2015

at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Mr. Shropshire was born June 6, 1973 in Rome, GA, the son of the late Pamela Diane Evans.  He was a member of New Spirit and Truth Church.

 

Survivors include his children, Max Shropshire, Taylor Parm, and Lyric Brown;

step-father, Arthell Evans; former wife, Susie Pendley Shropshire; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tamarius and Tabatha Evans, Danarius and Tiffany Evans, and Kerry Evans;

special aunt, Angela  Williams and husband, Benji Williams.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Shropshire will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, April 24, 2015

at the New Spirit and Truth Church.  Burial will follow in Evans Family Cemetery.  Bishop V. T. Mr. William Franklin Gibson Jr. (M)

Mr. William “Bill” Franklin Gibson, Jr., age 67, of Menlo, GA, died Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Gibson was born August 29, 1947, in Cohutta, GA, son of the late William “Bill” Franklin and Bertha Howell Gibson, Sr.  He was a member of the Christian Home Baptist Church, and was employed as a Truck Driver with Textile Rubber.  He was also a member of the National Guard for 21 years.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Ciera Nicole Key and Taylor Sipes.

 Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife, Nora Croy; sons and daughters-in-law, Shane and Elaine Gibson, Gary and Shannon Gibson, and Chris and Jill Gibson; a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Anthony Herndon; a brother, Steven Gibson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Kenneth Combs, Sylvia and Melvin Sane, Beverly and Earl Burnette, and Carolyn and Henry Beaty. 

Funeral services for Mr. Gibson will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shane Gibson and Rev. Mrs. Majorie (Jo) Kellett Peace (ER)

MRS. MAJORIE (JO) KELLETT PEACE, age 93, of Fayetteville, Georgia, formerly of Trion, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015, in Fayetteville.  Native to Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born to the late Deed J. and Lucy Estelle Jay Kellett on April 11, 1922.  Mrs. Peace was a member of West Summerville Baptist Church, was retired from the weave room of Riegel Textile Corporation, and preceded in death by her husband, the late Fred William Peace.
            Surviving are niece and spouse, Patricia Kellett Cooper and Donnie Cooper of Peachtree City; nephew and spouse, Zane Kellett and Debbie Cooper of Peachtree City; great nephew, Coleman Cooper; several Cousins also survive.
            Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Seay officiating, interment in the family lot of Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. Alex Fowler, age 68, of Trion, GA, died Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Kennestone Hospital.   

Mr. Fowler was born March 10, 1947, in Summerville, GA, son of the late J. D. and Roxie Jane Hunter Fowler.  He was employed with Mohawk.  Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Penny Comer Fowler; a son, Jimmy Dale Fowler; daughters, Beverly Sumner and Selena Wester; brothers, William Fowler and Donnie Fowler; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.   

Funeral services for Mr. Fowler will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mrs. Robbie Yarbrough Daido, age 85, of Summerville, GA died Friday, April 17, 2015
at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center .
 
Mrs. Daido was born September 5, 1929 in Chattooga County, GA, the daughter of the
late Nathaniel Ethridge Yarbrough and Beedie Lois Dempsey Yarbrough.  She was
a homemaker and a Kennedy Center Hostess.  Mrs. Daido was a member of Oak Hill
Methodist Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Don Daido; son, Paul Daido; sisters, Drucilla Wilson, Hazel Moseley; brothers, Glenn
Yarbrough and Raymond Yarbrough.
 
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa Daido; brothers and
sister-in-law, Joe and Laverne Yarbrough, and Harvey Yarbrough; sisters and brother-
in-law, Judy and Earl Callan, and Lillian Green; granddaughters, Hannah Daido and
Corinne Daido; and grandson, Jonathan Daido.
 
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Gillespie and Rev. Bill Adams officiating.  Burial will
be in King David Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Carolyn Rebecca Clark Gideon Obit (C)

Mrs. Carolyn Rebecca Clark Gideon, age 66 of Rome, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at a Rome Hospital.

Mrs. Gideon was born in Trion, Georgia on September 14, 1948, daughter of Mrs. Doris Grogan Clark Morgan and the late William Roy Clark, Sr. She was a childhood member of the Trion First Baptist Church and prior to her retirement was employed by the State of Georgia Technology Services. Mrs. Gideon loved to read, bake, work in her flower garden, and do anything that pertained to computers. She loved music and was an avid animal lover and was a supporter of animal rights. In addition to her father, Mrs. Gideon was preceded in death by a son Larry Robert Gideon.

Mrs. Gideon is survived by her mother, Doris Clark Morgan of Rome, Ga; a brother, William Roy Clark, Jr. and his wife, Toni of Cumming, GA; a sister, Jane Clark Blackman and her husband, Tom of Trion; special friends, Mike and Betty Free and her furry children, Peanut and Clyde.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gideon will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Miss Janie Gail Wooten, age 57, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday April 16, 2015 in Redmond Medical Center.  Miss Wooten was born November 22, 1957, in Lafayette, GA, the daughter of Aline Thompson Wooten and the late Johnnie Wooten.  Other than her father she was preceded in death by grandparents, Byrd and Mollie Wooten, Jim and Maggie Thompson.  Survivors include her mother, Aline Wooten, sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Richard Rinehart, Trion, GA, Tammy and Troy Martin, Summerville, GA, special nephews, Lance Martin and Zack Martin. 

Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday April 18, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Thompson officiating with interment in the McIntyre Cemetery.  Active pallbearers, Richard Rinehart, Troy Martin, Lance Martin, Zack Martin, Logan Parker.  Honorary pallbearers, Staff of Oakview Health and Rehab.
