Mr. Donnie Ray Parris, age 66 of Trion, GA passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Parris was born July 5, 1948 in Trion, GA.  He had been employed with Mount Vernon Mills & Stansell’s Furniture.   He was Baptist by faith.  Mr. Parris was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald “Duck” Parris and a grandson, Jaycee Parris; parents, Rev. Clyde Cecil Parris and Mary Opal Naves Parris. Mr. Parris is survived by wife, Patricia (Pat) Parris; sons, David Ray Parris and Jason Allen Parris; daughters, Shannon (Sammy) Trammell and Allison (Billy) Tapp; brothers, Cecil Parris and Leon Parris; sisters, Ann Lanier and Frances Busby; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

 Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. from the Petitt Chapel of Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Visitation for Mr. Donnie Ray Parris will be Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Mrs. Kimberly Dawn Blackmon Obit (ER)

KIMBERLY DAWN BLACKMON, age 49, of Trion, Georgia passed away Tuesday evening, April 14, 2015, at her residence.  Ms. Blackmon was born February 9, 1966, to the late Houston Foy and Bessie Carolyn Stansell Palmer. She was a member of New Hope North Baptist Church. In addition to parents She was preceded in death by siblings: Jimmie Ruth Sweat, Marilyn Jean Palmer and Bobby Palmer
Survivors include her son, Justin Blackmon of Trion, husband Paul Kennett of Trion; sisters: Phyllis Padgett of Rossville, Kathy Brown of Trion, Becky Schilling, Linda Orr and Martha Reynolds all of Summerville, Marsha Upton and Pat Elsberry both of Lyerly; brothers: Michael Palmer ,Summerville and La Don Palmer of Dalton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, 2015, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Michael Redwine and Freddie Bell officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M.

Mr. Robert Roster “Stretch” Morgan, Jr Obit (C)

Mr. Robert Roster “Stretch” Morgan, Jr., age 86 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at his residence. 

Mr. Morgan was born in Lyerly, Georgia on June 12, 1928, son of the late  Robert Roster Morgan, Sr. and Lillie Mae Dotson Morgan.  He was a member  of the Faith Temple Holiness Church and was retired from the  maintenance department of Mohawk Industries.  Mr. Morgan was a member  and past master of Lyerly Lodge #338 F&AM, was a Scottish Rite  Mason, a Royal Arch Mason, a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple, the  Chattooga Shrine Club and a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon.  In  addition to his parents, Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his wife,  Inez McGraw Morgan, a son, Bobby Morgan, granddaughter, Stephanie Mull, a  grandson, Ronnie Stinnett and a great granddaughter, Courtney Mull.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and William  Wilbanks of Ft. Oglethorpe, Frankie Love and her companion, Larry Kilgo,  of Summerville, and Aquilla and Rick Adkins of Ft. Oglethorpe;  son-in-law, Carlton Love; sister, Wanda Sizemore of New Mexico; 11  grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Morgan will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 2:00  P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. John  Mann officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lyerly Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Jones, Brandon Love, Carlton Love, Anthony Mathis, Rick  Adkins and Dylan Mathis.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Masonic brethren of Lyerly Lodge #338 F&AM.

Mr. Raymond W. Cooper Obit (ER)

MR. RAYMOND W. COOPER, age 89, of Jenkins Gap Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in a LaFayette Health Care. Native to Jackson County, Alabama, He was born to the late George A. and Ethel Goff Cooper on December 21, 1925. Mr. Cooper was a retired farmer and logger, and a member of the Silver Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife the late Gladys Louise Crabtree Cooper, a son, the late Jerry Cooper, and a granddaughter, the late Mary Burrage.

Surviving are daughters and son-in-law, Faye Cooper and Shirley and Michael Herring; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Essie Cooper, William Cooper, Clayton Cooper, Sherman and Barbara Cooper; bother-James Reece Cooper; seven Grandchildren, twelve Great Grandchildren, three Great Great Grandchildren, also with several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11th, at 11:00 A.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Wayne Cooper officiating, interment in Silver Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandchildren. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mrs. Thelma McKenzie Jones Complete Obit (C)

Mrs. Thelma McKenzie Jones, age 86, of Trion, GA passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at a Rome Hospital.

Mrs. Jones was born in Trion, Georgia on March 2, 1929, daughter of the late Taylor McKenzie and Mary Swallwood McKenzie. She was a member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Jones was a caring mother, sister, daughter and grandmother, and enjoyed looking after her family, especially her dog Suzie. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jones, and her brothers, Conley McKenzie, Lee Gene McKenzie, Carl McKenzie and Marion McKenzie.

Mrs. Jones is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Steve Payton; sons, Jay McKenzie Jones and his companion, Pam Glenn and William Scott Jones; grandchildren, Nicole Jones, Anna Ball, Haley Payton, Hannah Payton, Kevin Glenn and Eric Glenn; grandchildren, Olivia Glenn, Shiloh Glenn, Cassidy Glenn, Dawson Glenn, Zeke Ball and Ellie Ball; special niece, Vicki McCorsley; neighbors, Margaret and Larry Langston; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside and Interment services will held Friday, April 10, 2015 at 2:30 P.M. in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Eric Glenn, Kevin Glenn, Charles Wade, Robbie Hamby, Quinton Watson, and Brandon Ball.

Mrs. Mary Leann Patrick Obit (M)

Mrs. Mary Leann Patrick, age 61, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, April 6, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Patrick was born May 21, 1953, in Fayetteville, GA, daughter of Juanita May Foster and the late James Olin Hammond, Sr.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Wayne Patrick; and a brother, James Olin Hammond, Jr.

Mrs. Patrick is survived by her husband, Gregory Patrick; mother, Juanita May Foster; and step-brother, Adam Foster.

Funeral services for Mrs. Patrick will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Coward and Rev. Donnie Carver officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Mrs. Patrick will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Mr. Charles Walter Lively (M)

Mr. Charles Walter Lively, age 80, of Trion, GA, passed away Saturday April 4, 2015, at his residence.

Mr. Lively was born September 23, 1934, in Trion, GA, the son of the late George Cavin and Minnie Emory Lively.  He was retired from the Spinning Department of   Mt Vernon Mills. 

Survivors include his sister, Mrs. Oneal Mills, and several nieces and nephews. 

Graveside and interment service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday April 7, 2015 from the family plot in the Trion Cemetery, with Rev. Chip Smith officiating. 

Mr. Lively will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Tuesday at 12:00 noon.  Mason Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Mr. Charles Walter Lively that passed away on Saturday.

Mr. Robert L. Yarbrough, JR Obit (M)

Mr. Robert L. Yarbrough, JR, age 71, of Summerville, GA, died April 2, 2015 at Floyd Medical Center.
 
Mr. Yarbrough was born September 18, 1943 in Summerville, GA, the son of the late
Robert L. Yarbrough, SR and Jewell Tallent Yarbrough.  He was retired from Inland
Container.  Mr. Yarbrough was currently attending Alpine Community Church.
He was a member of the Chattooga County Wildlife Club.  He was Past Master of
Alpine Lodge #211, Past Master 7th Masonic District, Past District Deputy to Grand
Master of Masons in Georgia.  He was a member of Alhambra Shrine Temple,
Chattanooga, TN.  Mr. Yarbrough was a member of Menlo First Baptist Church,
where he had formerly taught the Mens Adult Sunday School for 15 years.
 
Mr. Yarbrough is survived by his wife, Margaret Callan Yarbrough; daughters and son-in-law,  Sylvia and Charlie Scoggins, Cleveland, TN, and Tammy Compton, Rome,
GA; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Stephanie and Justin Brown, Englewood, TN;
granddaughters, Brittany Scoggins, Cleveland, TN, Molly Compton, Rome, GA;
step grandsons, Andy Scoggins and Aaron Scoggins, Cleveland, TN; great-grandsons,
Hudson Andrew Brown and Holden Alexander Brown.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Yarbrough will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, April 4, 2015
at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billie Dempsey, Rev. Tommy Pledger, and
Rev. Larry Elliott officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery, with Masonic Graveside rites conducted by Alpine Lodge #211.  Active pallbearers will be Butch Young, Phil Brooks, Bart Bryant, Dennis Tucker, Jon Payne, and Christopher Kerce.
Honorary pallbearers will be all Chattooga County Wildlife Club Members, all
Alpine Lodge #211 Members; and all Masonic Brethren.
 
Mr. Yarbrough will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive
friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Friday, April 03, 2015.  In lieu of flowers, the
family respectfully request memorials be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Mann, age 71 of Mtn. View Road, Trion, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Mann was born January 11, 1944, daughter of the late Leroy Reynolds and Rena Lucille MacNellie Reynolds. She was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mann was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Mann, Sr., and a brother, Leroy “Buddy” Reynolds.

Mrs. Mann is survived by her sons, Wilson Mann, Jr. and Ronald Mann; daughters, Dorothy Weaver, Geneva Burrage, Beverly James and Annette Terry Elrod; brothers, Johnny Reynolds and David Reynolds; sisters, Helen Wade and Euvonne Bice; 21 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside and Interment Services for Mrs. Mann will be held Friday, April 3, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Kevin J. Norton officiating.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Burrage, Jason Burrage, Chris Burrage, Randy Burrage, Richard Burrage and Nathan Burrage. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randall Rainy, Robert Rainy, Ricky Rainy, Ryan Rainy and Steve Rainy.

The family has no formal plans for a visitation, but may be contacted at the residence.
