Mrs. Amy Thomas, age 85 of the Ridgeway Community, Trion, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at her residence.

MRS. EDDIE WAITS “PEE WEE” TINNEY, age 84, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, in a Rome hospital. A native of Polk County, Georgia , She was born on June 26, 1930, a daughter of the late George- Stanley and Effie Lavada Coker Waits. Mrs. Tinney, for many years, was a nurse at the Chattooga County Hospital and a member of New Antioch Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Rev. Johnny Tinney, and siblings Ruth Waits Ponder Howell, Edythe Earnestine Waits McGraw, Faye Norene Waits Ozment, Lois Carol Waits Baker, Kelsey Waits, Harold Waits, and Lodema Waits.
Surviving are brother, Dudley Waits of Rockmart; a special Niece, Vivian Price; several other Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 21st, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Sanford Deberry and Rev. Mike Odom officiating, interment in Lyerly Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Tony McGraw, Brad Baker, Charles Ponder, Joel Ozement, Andrew Waits, and Greg Motes; Honorary Pallbearers, Pete and Sarah Denson, Sonny and Marlene Tinney, Phyllis Odom, and Wanda Bain. The Family will receive friends Wednesday, from noon until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Kelly Louis Tanner, age 88, of Menlo, GA, died Sunday January 18, 2015, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Tanner was born May 28, 1926, in Rockrun, AL, son of the late Lloyd and Lula Tanner. He was a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church, the Gideons, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Sergeant with Company E, 11th Infantry. He was also a Rifleman 745 and Rifle Instructor at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Mr. Tanner was the Assistant Manager at Garnett’s Furniture from 1955 until 1986 and was the owner of Tanner’s Furniture from 1986 until 1993. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Aileen Tanner, and a son, Billy Leon Tanner.
Mr. Tanner is survived by his wife, Carolyn Tanner; sons, Larry Tanner and Greg Tanner; step-children, Jerry Reese and Tammy Reese, grandchildren, Eric Tanner, Jeff Tanner, Justin Tanner, Cory Tanner, Katie Tanner, Larissa Tanner, Lauryn Tanner, Dylan Nichols, Drake Nichols, Rachel Nichols, and Derick Nichols; great-grandchildren, Brayton Tanner, Landen Tanner, Keira Tanner, Ryland Tanner, Hannah Mealer, Wesley Mealer, Cash Tanner, and Emma Tanner.
Funeral services for Mr. Tanner will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Zach Hughes, Dana Yancey, Latin Wooten, Steve Rhinehart, Johnny Gentry, and Tony Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be James Spears, Bron Love, Wes Love, Willard Brown, Joe Smith, D. C. Mitchell, Tim Willingham, and the Men’s Sunday School Class of the Menlo First Baptist Church.

Mr. Paul Leldon "Lel" Johnson passed away on Saturday, January 17th. Mr. Johnson was born in Mentone, Alabama December 8, 1931, the son of the late Clarence N. and Ira Johnson. He retired as a truck driver and had worked for Blalock Sawmill in Menlo. Mr. Johnson was a member and deacon at Cove Road Baptist Church in Mentone.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents along with his brother Edgar Johnson and sisters Ruby Wilson, Diane Hunt and Edith Watts. He was also preceded in death by his son Alan Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Myrtle (Stoker) Johnson; son and daughter-in-law Marty and Lisa Johnson; daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Steve Tate; daughter-in-law Kathleen Johnson; brother Herman Johnson; sisters Pearline Rentz and Bernice West along with grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Burt Chapel in Valley Head, Alabama at 11 AM (Alabama Time) Monday, January 19th with Bro. Brian Keith officiating with burial at Little River Cemetery at Mentone.
Mr. Donnie Lee McDaniel, age 70, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday January 16, 2015, in Summerville, GA.
Mr. McDaniel was born October 5, 1944, in Chattooga County GA, the son of Enoch and Dovie McDaniel. Donnie was a special person having been born with cerebral palsy. He lived a long and happy life.
Survivors include sisters, Vonzelle Reynolds, Jackson, GA, Julie Kimsey, Warwick, GA, cousins, Bill and Susan Durham, Davis McDaniel, Dewey and Lulabelle Smith, Doug and Denise McDaniel, Tim and Karen McDaniel, Sue and Phillip Murphy, and Thelma Mayes.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday January 19, 2015 from the Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. John Mann officiating. Active pallbearers are Bill Durham, Edward Bennett, Don Dotson, Jeff Dotson, Tony Wigley, and Jill Russell. Honorary pallbearers are Roger, David and James, and the staff of Lookout Mtn. Community Services.
Mr. McDaniel will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Mr. Danny Ray Floyd, age 69, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Floyd was born October 17, 1945, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Doc Smith and Berta Agnes Warren Floyd. He was a member of the Lyerly Pentecostal Tabernacle, and prior to his retirement, was a self-employed carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce E. Floyd; and brothers, Troy Floyd and J. W. Floyd.
Mr. Floyd is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Lisa Smith Floyd; a daughter, Kimberly Lynn Peterson; grandchildren, Brycen Leigh Peterson and Brianna Gilreath.
Funeral services for Mr. Floyd will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 16, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Warren, Mike Floyd, Kenneth Hunter, Brycen Peterson, William Warren, and Marty Bryant.
